fair enough, just saying statistics can be misleading when not getting to the root of problem, I've read sources from black authors included that say right now blacks are more likely to commit crimes but also more likely to be more harshly policed/convicted as well so hard to separate the two issues I imagine

Do you enjoy the TSA? Ever had a pleasant interaction with a cop when you get pulled for "speeding" or "crossing the double yellow"? This is all a function of government being involved in every aspect of your life when it doesn't need to be.

I'm so fucking glad I don't have much call to interact with police, I would hate to live in an area they actively patrol.

I love how wolfpack2105's response to stories of cops killing unarmed blacks is to post stories of cops killing unarmed whites instead of, say, posting stories about cops resolving tense situations with armed/unarmed black suspects peacefully.

EDIT: I mean, why aren't you protesting/rioting? Shouldn't the response to a cop killing an unarmed white (or otherwise) man be to demand a thorough, independent investigation instead of using it to score points in an argument over racist police tactics?

So at work, if they need to restore some data, and I don't have a backup for it...that's my job down the drain. I would have made a mistake, and I would be fired for it.

It would result in downtime for whatever app I didn't have the data for, possibly resulting in profit loss. I would be fired for it.

Mistakes were made here too, and it wasn't profit loss, but loss of life. All police involved should be fired for it. Prosecuted? I don't know, but definitely fired.

With a statutory max of 200k, they've paid out more than 5 million to settle cases over the past few years. There's likely more that didn't make it this far.

Rioting is wrong, but people only get to the point because their complaints go ignored for so long. Its also obvious that there's all no real accountability and cops are lying to protect their own.

Just like we somehow expect the protesters to keep the rioters in check, we should expect good police to hold bad police accountable. I don't think we'll see cops calling for this though...

I only ask for accountability. Prosecute all those who stole and destroyed property. Prosecute all those who don't use common sense and decency while on patrol. Unfortunately only one side is guilty of systemically covering their own even with video footage directly flying in the face of it.

The rioting is disgraceful but not all that surprising for a segment of the populace who is consietently marginalized and demonized simply because of their situation.

I wish there was an easy answer to all this nonsense but unfortunately there is not and there will be lots of anger and pain before any progress is made.
