LOL, y'all are ruining everything. We can't just stop using commas in certain situations. Every time we do, we create a new rule.
Using vocative commas is hard enough for some folks.
But y'all wanna make us use them and then start adding exceptions for when we shouldn't use them.
If you take the time to write a salutation, then you should use your vocative commas. It's serious business. ![](images/mad.gif) 8/26/2015 10:09:00 PM

Seems awkward as an opening...

That seems pretty strange as an email, but I'll give it a try.

I know it's awkward. I think it looks terrible. 8/26/2015 11:58:57 PM

If it's in a setting where I would type cannot or will not or do not or anything else like that, I would not use y'all.
However, if it's in an e-mail that I'm saying can't and won't and don't I have no problem using y'all. If anyone that receives the e-mail has a problem with me saying y'all and no problem with me saying can't then I'll punch them in their Yankee face. 8/27/2015 6:33:46 PM

I'll say Hey guys or Hey fellas if the email is to men, but I'm pretty wary of saying Hey ladies or something like that if the email is to multiple women. 8/27/2015 6:50:11 PM
