I'm Christian, I support Gay Marriage and I believe without a doubt Jesus would condemn the current conservative agenda.
How bout acting like a Christian and not judging others because they don't follow the same belief system as you. Most atheists I know are thoroughly versed in Christianity, more so than Christians who spout GOP talking points during every church meeting.6/26/2015 4:44:18 PM |

Gay marriage is open to doctrinal interpretation just like basically the entire bible should be. Presbyterian Church USA recognizes gay marriage, shouldn't they be allowed to carry out what they feel the bible tells them is good??? Presbyterian USA also allows women to be pastors, while many christians don't allow that (because women = eve = satan I guess). Should a state be allowed to disallow all women from serving as a religious leader in any form?? What about christian denominations that don't allow dancing (Footloose!!) or boys and girls to swim together in the same pool, etc etc etc.
Regardless of what you feel Christianity is, we shouldn't want government (or our neighbors) calling the shots on what religion is and isn't. This ruling brings us closer to that. 6/26/2015 4:58:11 PM |

I think most atheists have just as good of an idea of what it means to be a "christian" as most christians do. Do you disagree? And many atheists, like myself, were raised christian. I attended church 3 times a week (Sunday morning, Sunday night and WEdnesday night) from birth through high school. And I still go on rare occasions.6/26/2015 5:06:16 PM |

Probably 95% of my friends (millennials) were raised agnostic or atheist. They weren't raised Christian then converted to atheism. Whereas most of said millennials parents (baby boomers) were raised Christian and then converted to agnostic or atheist. I think it's a lot more common for our generation to be raised atheist then our parents generation.
--which means it's possible because there are more millennials now than baby boomers that more than 50% of millennial atheists weren't Christian first.

Haha my mom was raised catholic and my dad southern baptist and I was raised Unitarian Universalist. I went to religious education most Sundays growing up and it involved learning about all faiths as well as visiting many types of places of worthship. If anything I was raised to choose the faith I most related to. 6/26/2015 7:58:29 PM |

My favorite facebook post today was made by an insanely sheltered and naive girl who's never known anything other than what mommy and daddy has told her. She warns her fellow Christians that there "will be persecution and violence to come" against them...because gays can get married in all 50 states now.
That's right. Christians will be butchered in the streets because two dudes can now file joint tax returns. 6/26/2015 9:05:30 PM |

What? lol. I disagree with it because my religion states that a man being with a man and a woman being with a woman shouldn't happen and is a sin. Therefore, I disagree with a man being with a man and a woman being with a woman. However everyone sins everyday, so I get on with my life because I sin just as much as a gay person does. You can agree with this lifestyle all you want, and thats fine. I'm fine with people having different ideas about what is "acceptable" and what is not. But your response is just laughable. Why do you think your idea about gay people is the only idea that should be had? I feel like I have the right to say that I don't agree with it though. 6/27/2015 2:31:05 AM |

I hate that shit where people call it "a lifestyle". Thats basically like saying being gay is a choice, something that could possible be changed if you applied enough Jesus.
A lifestyle is a choice. Choosing to live in Alaska in a shanty out in the woods is a lifestyle choice. Being gay isn't a lifestyle. Its not a choice.

This is actually the most interesting question I've heard about this decision. Hopefully they give some kind of grace period, but you can bet that most employers will want the option of dropping people off of the health insurance the ACA forces them to offer/provide.6/27/2015 10:50:18 AM |
