antonio gates is still a top 10 TE on a lot of advanced stat sites. I'd use my 10th round pick to keep him, no question. 8/27/2015 10:47:29 AM |

I don't have to keep anyone either if I don't want. Being a 12 team league instead of 10 it does get pretty thin by the 10th round so it comes down to if I want a player I know a bit more about or if I'd rather just pick someone new at that point. Without the suspension Gates is an easy pickup in the 10th round, but with the suspension he might fall further than that and if I want him grab him later anyway.
I guess I'd ask people who drafted recently where have you seen Gates going? Is he dropping past pick 110-120 in your leagues or are people still getting him in that 80-100 range that it would be worth keeping?
Smith is the other option, at least I know he has the potential to get some targets he was good for me early in the year and then fell off. 8/27/2015 2:41:47 PM |

Look, Joe Flacco had 4,000 yards and 27 TDs last year, and Torrey Smith is gone.
Last year Smith had 1,000 yards and 6 TD and he finished #19 WR. That is definitely worth a 10th round pick to me.
Someone is going to have a 1,000 yard, 8 TD season here, and it's going to be Steve Smith. Who else is going to be WR1 in Baltimore?
This is exactly the type of not-sexy pick that can really add depth. 8/28/2015 9:37:09 AM |

10th round is fine for him, imo. Think he went ~8th round in my 10 team league, and that's probably a little early (although it is .5 PPR). But in the 10th round it's not like there's a ton of stud WRs hanging around. And you likely aren't drafting a 10th round player expecting him to be a weekly lock in your lineup anyways. 8/28/2015 9:56:05 AM |

1000 yards? maybe. 8 TDs? doubtful. Smith has only reached 8 TDs twice in his career. Baltimore will throw a lot to the TEs, as usual, and Campanaro is going to suprise a lot of people this year.
But you do you, guy. (Also, they said they'd have to use a 9th rd pick on Smith). I wouldn't keep him for that, but it's not a terrible choice if you do. 8/28/2015 10:12:19 AM |

Or the Baltimore WR that gets a ton of targets this year could be their first-round WR they picked up. He might miss most of the preseason, but once he's on the field you know they're going to force him the ball to see what he can do. 8/28/2015 10:33:54 AM |

Had the snake draft today.
Waited till the last round (before Kickers get taken) and got Carson Palmer in a 12 team league.
got solid of WRs but didn't realize how thin the RB selection is this year. Just so much swapping of parts from last year.
PS where do we stand on Sproles? I picked him up. That's such a unique offense, he's almost made for it but that bench...yeeesh.

Drafted from the 12th spot last night...(in order):
Shady McCoy Demaryius Thomas Jordan Matthews Jimmy Graham Chris Ivory Arian Foster Ryan Matthews John Brown Tre Mason Cam Newton Ronnie Hillman Eli Manning Matt Jones Rueben Randle K & DST last
Thoughts? I wasn't crazy about the Shady pick but first round was a RB holocaust. If I had it to go back I probably would have picked up Jeremy Hill instead. Would have preferred Tannehill over Eli, but someone reached on him much earlier than expected. Other than that, I was pretty satisfied. Interesting draft, as always. 8/31/2015 11:33:33 AM |

I have the 1st pick for my fantasy draft next Monday. 10 team standard scoring. Will probably take Adrian Peterson 1st overall. Do you think I should go WR,WR with the 20,21 pick? I can still get 2 elite receivers and I think the RB position is a crap shoot (as it is about every year)
The players available in that range are Calvin Johnson AJ Green TY Hilton Aaron Rodgers Andrew Luck Mike Evans Randall Cobb Mark Ingram 8/31/2015 9:01:57 PM |

I went 1st in a 10 team snake. Pretty happy with how it turned out. I used http://apps.fantasyfootballanalytics.net/projections to load up our scoring (we're kinda wonky with some scoring as it's a for-fun league) and stayed pretty true to their rankings. I feel like I could have been more risky with the bottom of the bench.
I would have taken Le'Veon Bell with the first pick if not for that stupid suspension he caught. No way was I gonna pick a guy who is going to miss 23% of the regular season. With Cousins starting for WAS I'm gonna guess Morris gets a lot of touches again.
1. (1) Adrian Peterson (Min - RB) 2. (20) Randall Cobb (GB - WR) 3. (21) Justin Forsett (Bal - RB) 4. (40) Peyton Manning (Den - QB) 5. (41) Keenan Allen (SD - WR) 6. (60) Jarvis Landry (Mia - WR) 7. (61) Jason Witten (Dal - TE) 8. (80) Alfred Morris (Was - RB) 9. (81) Roddy White (Atl - WR) 10. (100) Ryan Tannehill (Mia - QB) 11. (101) Anquan Boldin (SF - WR) 12. (120) Kansas City (KC - DEF) 13. (121) Justin Tucker (Bal - K) 14. (140) Ryan Mathews (Phi - RB) 15. (141) Doug Baldwin (Sea - WR)
I was surprised Tannehill was still there in the 10th. And getting a 3rd starting RB with the last pick in the 8th round also felt like it fell in to my lap.

yeah alfred morris has been crazy undervalued this year and last year. he's had 1000+ yards every season of his career. over 4 YPC every year. and he's played 16 games every season. he's definitely not the same class as that top tier of RBs (AP, Bell, etc) but, IMO, he's still really underrated. i happily took him 28th overall in my 10 team PPR league. that's higher than most any sites had him ranked, but if you look at other guys going around Morris...Mark Ingram, Lamar Miller, Jonathan Stewart...would you really rather have those guys than Morris? 9/1/2015 12:30:45 PM |

Think some people are worried about Matt Jones taking some carries. He's absolutely dominated the preseason, 8.1 ypc average, haha.
I think 8th round is too low, but I'm not really that high on him. He's the vanilla ice cream of fantasy football, low ceiling and high floor. You know he's going to get you 10-12 points per week but isn't really a threat to go for 20+. I could see people wanting to take flyers on guys with more upside in the the 3rd-5th rounds. No way he should still be there in the 8th unless it's an 8-person league and everyone just shits on the Skins. 9/1/2015 1:44:26 PM |

this is almost exactly what i want out of my RB2. obviously, i'd love for my RB2 to be a 20/week guy, but if i'm in the 3rd/4th round and already have a RB1, WR1, or whatever else...then i'd be perfectly content drafting a guy who can get me 10-14/week pretty consistently rather than take a chance on maybe a rookie or something.9/1/2015 2:09:22 PM |
justinh524 Sprots Talk Mod 27836 Posts user info edit post |
i mean the dude has averaged 1321 yards and 9 TDs for his career. That's not vanilla. Obviously his lack of any pass catching ability keeps him from being a top tier back, but he gets yards even though his team is terrible and is always playing from behind.
Having Cousins at QB this year should definitely help his value, because teams will actually have to try and defend the pass a little bit. 9/1/2015 2:17:54 PM |
LudaChris All American 7946 Posts user info edit post |
I mean, look at the last 2 years. Ranks in standard: 13, 14 Ranks in PPR: 15, 18
He's a RB2, plain and simple. Not going to be a RB1 and not going to end up on your bench. I don't think Cousins adds any value to Morris.
I understand why you'd like Morris as your RB2, and it's a "safe" pick. The problem is a lot of people are searching for that guy that has a high upside that they can draft to be their RB2 but could end up being a RB1 if the season goes well. 9/1/2015 2:42:42 PM |

I'd rather have Ingram or Miller 1-2 rounds before Morris. They have a ton of upside on offenses that are heading the right direction. Morris has a low ceiling, and that's not what I want in any pick I make in the first 6 rounds. Consistency doesn't cut it in fantasy football; you need players that can get streaky occasionally and win a game for you.
For those thinking that Alfred Morris will get better with Kirk Cousins at QB, look at last year how Morris did with each QB starting.
RGIII (7 games) 615 yards rushing 6 touchdowns
Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy (9 games) 459 yards 2 touchdowns9/1/2015 7:51:34 PM |

and I'd rather have 2 #1 WRs than go for either of those guys in rounds 2/3.
IMO Morris's floor and ceiling are both higher than either of those guys. 9/1/2015 8:12:02 PM |
