Oh for the love of God. I'm no longer particularly religious but I grew up Catholic. And if believing that Jesus is the son of God and that the Bible is God's word don't form a pretty good basis for being considered a Christian, I don't really know what does. Transubstantiation vs. consubstantiation is a pretty fucking big theological debate but I don't think being a Christian hinges on one or the other. Salvation through faith alone versus faith + good works is maybe a bigger functional stumbling block, but...

I suppose considering all non-Protestants to be non-Christians is pretty consistent with the self-righteous worldview of many conservative evangelical protestant denominations.

(And yes, not really the point, and yes, I'm probably responding to a troll post, but old habits die hard, y'know? Besides, SOMEONE IS WRONG ON THE INTERNET.)

I grew up in a Southern Baptist church, and I guess I heard someone say that Catholics aren't Christians a time or two, or at least question it, but that was a wacky, fringe view even by Southern Baptist standards.

(I'd say I'm pretty much an agnostic atheist now, although I'd be somewhat open to a possibility of a deistic arrangement and am not hostile to religion as long as it doesn't lead you to infringe or impose upon other people)

I don't consider Baptists humans so they can think whatever they want about Catholics.

My dad was raised baptist and my mom catholic. Luckily I wasn't raised as either and they don't identify as either. I still have to deal with the baptist relatives on my dad's side though. Some scary stuff.
