For the protestor who was shot, there were multiple very credible eye witnesses that indicated it was an officer. There's no way to know without either a medical report or a video at this point, but it's not an unreasonable belief given the available information.

Eye witness testimony in those circumstances (large mob, night, etc) are notoriously unreliable. While I agree with TGD on a lot of issues, the way he jumped on the police without an significant proof is kinda .

yeah eye witnesses are unreliable, but so are the police.

In his case, it was people he knew personally that said it was a police. In my case, an activist I know and had been following for a while mentioned it was police. It's not absolute proof, but it's very plausible/possible scenario, that we don't have information publicly to show either way.

The underlying theme of TGD's "republicanism" is mistrust for government and police are just another gov agency to him.

Police arrested someone for the shooting, so if they actually did it they're going all in.

i mean, i'd totally understand pandering and not think twice about it, it just didn't come across like that. to me it seemed like he really can't tell the difference between eyewitnesses who were part of a crowd and likely didn't see more than a dude getting shot and an eyewitness who could give a very clear description of a shooter and scenario

Pepperballs are shot from shotguns. It does sound like a lot of reverb but could be an echo.

There's enough doubt and the cops have been sketchy enough that I would want to see the surveillance video they used.

the pepper shotgun rounds aren't a projectile, its just shooting the powder. the little ball things are air powered.

but regardless, its fine to want to see the surveillance video, but recognize that the witness who could clearly explain the shooter is objectively a better witness than someone in a crowd who just heard something and watched a guy go down

I'm inclined to believe the hood thing wasn't an attempt to block the cameras, but i can't blame people for jumping to this conclusion, because it's fairly common for cops to tamper with their body cams.

Seems like the cops already agreed not to do that anymore anyway, so seems moot.

But it doesn't make sense for a properly maintained car to require the hood open to cool anyway... could even make things worse in some situations.

That sounds like *complete* bullshit, but should be pretty damn easy to prove if actually legitimate since it would be a very widespread problem. Also the high that day was 84 so that doesn't mesh with the chief's 100 degree day explanation.

Exactly. Two different makes of cars, of different model years, both magically having the same problem at the same time in the same location -- while literally no other cars anywhere in the town / state / country had that same issue?

We can also point out at this point that there is video evidence now of the protestor being shot by another protestor.
The bullet was intended for a police officer, but the victim essentially stood up into it. Does t fit their narrative though.
