Except they didn't charge that Chicago cop who shot that kid 16 times, numerous times after he was already incapacitated on the ground, despite having access to video of the shooting for a year, coupled with a false police report.

But it's imprudent to apply that on a societal level.

LOL, yet no one called the actual cops until at least the following day...? That doesn't strike you as the least bit suspicious here? They had to pull the first guy out with a SWAT team before the other 2 turned themselves in? Also do you have a source for the "called their cop friend 2hrs later"? If this is even true, that seems like they were trying to learn what to do to beat an attempted murder. Because that cop should have done his job and turned them in, otherwise he's complicit in this crime.

^I would think that the cop friend he called was the person that gave up the evidence for the warrant in the first place, but I have no justification for thinking that other than the speed with which the search warrant was obtained.

As a gun owner, those threads feature a lot of exactly what troubles me the most about gun culture right now. Dumb motherfuckers KNOWINGLY putting themselves into escalating situations because they want, so bad, to feel what a "justified" shooting feels like. Its insane, disgusting, and its surprisingly prevalent.

4chan continues to legitimize it's claim as the bowels of the internet.

All of the stupid memes and sarcastic comments that has been posted by those users over the years are now going to be read in a courtroom in a completely serious matter. This should make for some very entertaining court dockets.

I thought it was interesting that they only charged the shooter with 5 counts of assault and everyone involved with second degree riot. Either the DA lowballed the charges as far as they could for the slam dunk conviction, or there is absolutely nothing to this and the DA is hoping to get the others to turn on the shooter for part of a plea deal. I can imagine a group of /k/ gun nuts will testify to almost anything in exchange for dropped felony charges so that they can keep their guns rights, so that would be pretty smart on the part of the DA.

Looks like Mayor Emmanuel called for the police cheif's resignation over this whole debacle.

I would like to believe the firing was a result of the police dragging their feet for a year, while sitting on pretty damning evidence by way of video tape, before charging the murderous officer. However, I'm more convinced this firing was a way to appease protestors and Chicago citizens in general after the release of the tape.
