I'm not suggesting shooting at everything that moves, but I am not a fan of the deal with Iran, exchanging prisoners for a soldier who abandoned post, wanting to let in a bunch of refugees, etc. Trump is right in wanting to lock down our borders and keep a close eye on Muslims/Middle Easterners. PC Principal and career politicians need to go away. If Trump had been our president the last 8 years I don't think any of those deals would have happened.

^At the same time I kind of hope Trump gets beat out by Cruz because Trump has no chance vs Clinton. I don't want career politicians in office who want more government programs.

" I thought you were advocating for the US to take a lesser role militarily, allow Assad to take back (some) control with Russia and Iran's help, stabilize Iraq, and then work out some kind of long to medium term agreement that provides some lasting stability?"

I do not think we should reduce our military role and in certain areas we might be well-served by expanding it. Accepting the Assad reality is an intelligent assessment of the situation, it is not a solution by itself. Graham had the assessment right (well, less wrong than the others), and to a certain extent I think a "Syria surge" may be necessary (though a widespread invasion of Syria, not so much).

So in short, there are at least some components of Graham approach that I agree with, and none in the Bernie "let the Gulf States deal with it" plan of Bernie Sanders.

I'm not trusting my gut. I'm doing exactly what every employer does when looking for a new hire, which is looking at proven experience. The hiring manager at XYZ Corp. doesn't give a shit what ideas you think you have for the Dildo Manufacturing Division. He cares whether you have any experience manufacturing dildos.

Well, I'm an American citizen and I pay taxes (admittedly not enough to get worked up over, but still). That means that the President works for me. There are several people applying for the job of Head of State. Hillary Clinton has some relevant Head of State-y experience. She did an OK job. The remaining Republicans were all working at the dildo factory and have no relevant experience. Bernie Sanders was off being custodian of the Big Rock Candy Mountain.

I have listened to what Bernie has said on foreign policy and I think it is half-assed, ill-informed shit. To his credit, I think he'd rather not pretend to have ideas about it at all. He'd rather yell about how it's unfair that some people have money, and it's hard to shoe-horn that into a foreign policy debate. But, such is the American electorate that he has to say something about the issue, so he gives you a vague statement that war is bad and we probably shouldn't have any more, but if we're going to let's make the Arabs handle it.

Likewise I have listened to the Republicans, most of whom I disregard because the only thing more disgusting than the idea that they're full of shit is the terrifying prospect that they are telling the truth when they describe their foreign policy ideas.

One case doesn't make a trend. I don't call the Democrats voracious war-mongers because they got us dragged into Vietnam for nine years over what turned out to be our ships shooting at their own wakes.

^ok then I misinterpreted your OG post, I misinterpreted how close your position is to Bernies.

And I don't disagree that foreign policy is a weak point of the Sandrrs campaign, their focus is obviously more domestic.

Well once Trump finishes ripping the republican party apart and the Clinton empire shits on him, I guess there will only be one real option...
