Rowan is complete dogshit tonight, Abu didn't even show up (0 fgs attempted), Anya playing like Anya, Cat getting held and bumped all night, zero calls. Fuck UVA, they will flame out early in the tourney again. Another 2nd half collapse. We just don't have the legs to play 2 games in 3 days much less against at top 10 team on the road.

Wow 22-42 in the 2nd half.

Caleb and Rowan combine for 2/17. When both those guys are off, we get our shit pushed in every time. Abu did not even attempt a shot. We actually shot well inside the arc, but let UVA just bomb us out of the building. Our 3 pt D has to be one of the worst in the NCAAs.

Cat kind of killed us tonight when he wasn't getting foul calls or driving lanes he got frustrated and forgot to run the offense. I know he's bound to be tired but his defense was pretty bad too. Looked like we went away from everything that was working in the first half.

Gott needs to ban 2pt shots outside of the paint for every player except for cat

Kind of similar to the Carolina game except we didn't have a run towards the 10 minute mark to get things semi-close again.

We're a decent offensive team for the most part, but we still don't have anything close to a 2nd consistent option on offense. Maverick shoots terribly just about every game, Caleb does so probably 70% of the time, and our bigs are just straight up terrible. Abu has his nights where he's totally engaged and dunking everything, but if he's not dunking he's just not scoring. We'll be much improved next year with depth and other options at SG other than Martin & Rowan, but our front court is still going to be absolutely terrible.

And I know Gott has never been a defensive coach, but that doesn't mean we have to be embarrassingly bad. We don't have depth, but we have the athleticism and length to the point where we shouldn't be allowing teams to score at will every single game.

I know our bigs haven't even offensively impressive but the first 4 minutes of Cody Martin to Freeman were beautiful. Then we went to the lets get cat to try and drive all the time which the combo of Virginia defense plus ref tendencies just won't allow. Rowan killed us too I would have rather seen Kirk in than him if not both Martins

Yeah, I'm not really sure why we keep letting Rowan jack up 3's. I get that we don't have anyone else to put in that's a guard, but I don't see why Kirk isn't getting some of those minutes.

The first few minutes were great largely because that was the first time in forever I feel like we were able to score without totally leaning on Cat. We got open looks down low for Freeman and Cody Martin was able to attack the lane. Then we regressed back to our normal offense of letting Cat do everything and it didn't work against UVA's defense.

Unless Caleb & Rowan show drastic improvement next season I don't see how they won't be the 5th/6th guard options off the bench behind Henderson, Dorn, DSJ and Cody Martin (although calling him a guard might be a stretch).

Just got back from the restaurant

Checked my phone a couple times in the first half / halftime and was like "yeah! come on Pack!" then I check it again and they had outscored us like 38-15 in the 2nd half or something.

Embarrassing second half to watch. Rowan was awful, Cat couldn't get anything going, and as mentioned above, our bigs have no moves down low.

Not sure how people didn't see this coming from Rowan. Hell all the stats I saw from his games included him shooting a high volume of shots at a low percentage, ending up with a decent point total but hurting his team ultimately.

He's a more athletic Scott Wood with a less refined game.

you're not wrong, but when people say stuff like this we need to keep in mind that he is just a freshman. anybody expecting him to come in and be Wood or Turner right off the bad was just disillusioned. i'd also point out that he's kinda playing a role that he wasn't expected to play right away...henderson's injury has pushed him into a role he's clearly not ready for.

I think Rowan has more upside than Wood had, but think people are just comparing him mainly to Sr. year Wood instead of as a Freshman.

I think Rowan will be solid for us eventually, he's just being forced to play too many minutes right now because of Henderson's injury.
