Finally got to go to Standard Foods this week. The food was great. Service was good too. My friend had a diary allergy and our server knew his menu well and was extremely helpful to her.
Some things that struck me as a bit off: You cant get anything to go. I wanted to bring dessert home for my husband and I essentially "wasn't allowed" --I get the plating thing but I felt slightly inconvenienced. Also, I'm just not a fan of community table dining. If I'm not paying smorgasbord prices then I want my own table and not be stuck between the most yuppiest white people in all of Raleigh. Also, my collards were over-braised.

There's a reason we call it "Amateur Hour"

This doesn't really fit in this thread but whatever. Apparently Starbucks is expanding to having beer/wine and tapas in the evenings. Interesting idea. Only going to offer this at a few locations and the one in Holly Springs will be one of them. 3/23/2016 12:00:09 PM |

yes. It is a terrible layout. 3/28/2016 12:04:24 AM |

Don't give a fuck about the layout.
The pizza is dank and the liquor is cheap. What more do you need? 3/28/2016 12:25:45 AM |

If I wanted a restaurant with dank pizza and a terrible layout, I'd go to Trophy, except Trophy never has parking or free tables, so I guess I'm just gonna stay home God damn it. 3/28/2016 9:29:20 AM |

That's interesting. I've never had an issue getting parking or much issue getting a table at Trophy.
With parking, there is the huge parking lot in the back, the street parking in the back and the street parking up front. On occasion I have had to wait 15 minutes or so for a table, but consider that within the norm. Could just be the times we go, I suppose. If you go when there are more people, then I suppose wait times would be more and there would be fewer spots. 3/28/2016 9:57:04 AM |

Ruckus may have a bad layout, but Trophy is a whole new level of bad. I can't think of another restaurant in Raleigh that I just won't consider as an option because fighting for a table isn't worth it. 3/28/2016 10:29:56 AM |

TBF, I never go on the main portion of the inside. Only the inside-outside area, where they can open windows and the 20 or so tables outside. I don't even like going inside to use the bathroom because that flow is pretty fucking awful. 3/28/2016 11:22:30 AM |

FYI, when the weather is nice (like now) Trophy has expanded outdoor seating. Just about doubles their seating capacity. Just sure they're 100% deserving to be slammed for limited seating; they're a nano-brewery first and restaurant second.
(2nd, larger, location will have food service, eventually). 3/28/2016 12:24:01 PM |

Well that's unfortunate, because their beer is like a 5/10 but their pizza is more like 9/10. Seems they should re-prioritize based on their strengths .3/28/2016 2:51:14 PM |

I thought the plan was to leave that as a brewery / taproom and have food trucks9/9/2016 1:18:30 PM |

That's the plan afaik in their immediate future as they develop their production/distribution, but I think they're trying to actually develop that whole area into a strip mall type of deal with Trophy being the anchor, at which point they'd have food. 9/9/2016 1:27:07 PM |

In Raleigh for a wedding. Damn it's hot and humid this weekend. Unfortunately nights are taken by wedding activities but we did hit up bojangles on Western. 9/9/2016 4:56:26 PM |
