wasnt Kids about Millennials?

It was made in 1995 about 12-15 yr olds (i know the actors were older but they were playing those ages, i believe)

Anybody seen Hard Candy?

Available on Netflix till end of this month. I definitely recommend it.

There are 2,000+ reviews on Netflix, with what seems like 80-90% 5-star, and the remaining 1-star, with very few in between.

It will make you go like this --->

(No nudity or any R-rated imagery, but the themes are R-rated)

Is it really worth the watch? I started it on a plane, but I gave up 30-40 minutes in. The movie just struck me as standard oscar-bait with the title perfectly describing the plot up to that point (thin, if there even at all).

The Shape of Water, on the other hand, was a great Oscar-worthy movie. I actually watched it several days before Phantom Thread, so I wonder if it just being so good may have spoiled Phantom Thread - the clear Oscar-baiting in Phantom just looked amateur in comparison.

I had zero expectations but The 15:17 to Paris was worse than all of them, it was definitely one of the worst films I've ever seen

Pesci in the Irishman isn’t much like the Pesci from the roles he’s most known for

it’s a very quiet and understated role

So wait a second...

You're telling me Joe Pesci plays a mobster, alongside Robert De Niro, in a Martin Scorsese directed flick, and his performance is great?

Complete mindfuck.

Pacino is older and his performance is very loud

Pesci is known for generally going at one speed, and it was impressive to see him not go at that speed, especially after not acting much at all in the past 20 years

Did anyone else see "The Audition?" It's a 20-minute short, a few years old now, but it was a fantastic watch of Scorcese and his regulars spoofing themselves.

Any aficianados want to give their top 5 of the year? I haven’t seen too many. I thought joker wasn’t that great. About to find “Once upon a time in the west”. I thought Glass was a serious let down too. Want to see liar. Good boys had a few laughs but overall meh.

Ford vs. Ferarri is too long and the racing scenes are really poorly done, it's almost fast and furious level "shift and push the gas to go faster" and the crashes look really fake.

Just finished OUATIH. I mean i guess it was kind of entertaining at times, but definitely not as good as I thought it would be. Brad Pitt was awesome. End scene was less violent than I was expecting based on what others had said.

Ford vs Ferrari I think is good so far. Got about 40 minutes left but I really liked Daytona scene. Can’t remember last movie I didn’t want to know spoilers and watch first.

I finally saw The Irishman.

I thought the movie was not worth the hype. I'm glad I waited to watch it on Netflix. That movie could have been 90 mins, maybe 2 hours tops.

It was slow, it was boring, and I think its mediocre at best.

ad astra is pretty but not actually good

other recently watched films:
yesterday was much better than i expected, very enjoyable
downton abbey was great
angel has fallen is bad even if you are just expecting a dumb action movie, it's very bad
late night was good
good boys is okay but the previews show most of the jokes
the art of racing in the rain is fantastic, but you're gonna cry
stuber is really funny, great buddy cop comedy
midsommar is weird
old boys is kinda cute, not great but enjoyable
brightburn is a really cool take on the super here genre
anna is very good, felt like a mix of la femme nakita and the professional
fast and furios hobbs and shaw is bad, very dumb
shazam is great
booksmart is great, much better raunchy comedy than good boys
teen spirit never really goes anywhere, it ends just as you feel like things are starting

I like the initial story idea of brightburn but not the execution. Very straight ahead plot with unnecessary gore (glass specifically).
