His bite is relatively young and the full extent of the tissue damage has yet to come. He has a long road ahead of him. The effects of envenomation differ within and among species. It's hard to tell what will be affecting him long-term, other than the likelihood that he'll lose some function of that limb. My understanding is that the doctors performed a fasciotomy, which isn't pretty. He can still expect to be fighting the tissue damage a month from now, I believe.

If I recall correctly, kidneys sometimes react adversely to envenomation, which can come much further down the road. It's not easy to predict and can come potentially not be noticeable until he's suffering outright kidney failure, if he is unfortunate enough for that to happen.

I always assume that anybody into reptiles is also a drug dealer, and they threaten underage prostitutes with the animals and stuff.

Is this inaccurate?

^Yes and no. My boss isn't abusive to women, or a drug dealer, but he does like to smoke weed and owns a bearded dragon.

Hey guys,

It wasn't my fault.

I will have tons of bills, just reminding everyone who hasn't donated yet.

I'm a celebrity now.

It's unfortunate that he's seemingly just fine. Perhaps unfortunate isn't quite the right word. While I don't quite wish he was dead, I'm not exactly thrilled with the current outcome either.

IIRC, he had a Facebook post asking people for advice on how to get his animals back after the authorities determined they were all legal. Funny how he's getting charged with these violations after things were determined to be legal.

No worries, he'll just crowd-source the fines

Which snakes were the illegally possessed native snakes (as opposed to the legally posessed ones that can be returned to him)?

"HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — An Orange County man who was bitten by a king cobra earlier this year has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of violating a state law for how venomous snakes should be housed.

Media outlets report that 21-year-old Ali Iyoob, who was bitten May 2, was sentenced Monday to two years of supervised probation. He must also pay $4,000 to the state for costs related to snake removal.

On May 4, authorities removed 34 snakes — 18 of which were venomous — from Iyoob's home.

The state doesn't prohibit owning venomous and constricting snakes, but requires them to be housed in a sturdy, secure enclosure with a visible label. Authorities say Iyoob didn't house the snakes lawfully.

Iyoob told the judge he was bitten by the king cobra while he was trying to address the snake's medical issues."

LOL! Anyone trying to take a selfie with a wild animal deserves to get bit, scratched, gored, trampled, etc.
