The real sad part is that sugary cereals are marketed as something kids are supposed to eat.

I just started back eating cereal because my breakfasts were lacking fiber. Now, I eat whole grain os with extra fiber with almond milk.

before i went healthy ceeral my breakfasts were a mix of the following
-bacon egg and cheese sandwich
-pancakes, bacon, and fruit
-omelette and fruit
-breakfast burrito
-sausage egg and cheese sandwich
-bagel or toast with jam
-yogurt and granola bar

all of those breakfasts were delightful to look forwrd too in the monring but were too fatty, carb heavy and lacking fiber.

I don't eat cereal cause it makes me hungry, and I want more food like an hour later. If I don't eat an hour later, I feel deprived, and if I do eat, I feel gluttonous.

I'm envious of people who aren't disordered eaters.

Ideally, I eat eggs for breakfast, but I'm normally in too much of a hurry so I have chilled coffee with vanilla vitamin/protein powder. And then I try to have two more of those during the day. So, if I eat garbage later or finish the day with vodka, I can at least know I tried to get some proper nutrition.

I think I can get better, but I'm also on the verge of just saying fuck it and living on saltines and Ensure.

One of my recent breakfasts:





Giant Fried Egg Sandwich. Three eggs, bacon, lettuce, tomato, white cheddar, truffle aioli, toasted habit butter brioche (aka texas toast).

I ate it in one sittings. My GF got it the next day and it fed her over the course of three meals.

I'm hoping it was at least 1500-2000 calories.

couldn't tell you...years ago. i'd guess I've maybe had a few bowls of Cheerios within the last 20 years?

the problem with people our age is that they realized big brand cereals were a fraud and took that as a message that cereal was inherently bad as a concept. in return they eat stuff that is just as bad or worse like sugar-loaded chobani.

Breakfast is pretty easy. A couple of eggs, half an avacado, coffee, and maybe a piece of fruit.

On the rare occasion that I do have a carb based breakfast it's oatmeal.

dont eat cereal anymore, that shit is bad for you. i like to eat cold pop tarts in the morning if i dont have time to cook eggs n shit

1 piece of honey ham sandwhich meat torn into little pieces on hot pan
2 eggs on top
3 egg whites
Tabasco Chipotle

small bowl of oatmeal, add cinnamon, add Stevia.

Ice tea.

Baked oatmeal+fruit+nuts+beans everyday. Ingredients:

- 5-6 cups dry oats (thick rolled oats and/or rolled barley, or a mix of rolled oats and pre-cooked whole oat/barley groats)
- 1-2 eggs, but usually not
- 1.5 cups unsweetened soy milk, coconut milk, or usually just water

- 4-5 mashed ripe bananas
- 1 chopped apple (or pear), but not always
- 1 cup mixed chopped dried fruit (prunes/dates/figs + raisins)

- 0.5 cup chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts, almonds, or cashews)
- 3 tbsp chia+flax seeds

- 1 can drained rinsed no-Na beans (black, kidney, red, or pinto)

- powdered spices/herbs, for health benefits, not taste (cinnamon, cloves, allspice, ginger, turmeric)

- plus something unique i add every other time, if i have it (shredded/flaked dried coconut, shredded/chopped carrots, can of pureed pumpkin or mashed cooked sweet potato, strained yogurt or ricotta, TJ's dark chocolate chunks , frozen mixed berries... wow )

Mix and bake at 350 F in a large greased (I use olive oil) baking dish 2.5" deep, for 20-25 min (no preheat), so that it is still soft and unset in the middle. As it cools and evaporates over a whole week, it will get more and more set (and dense). Let it cool 15 min, then cover to prevent excessive drying; after another 15 minutes refrigerate, but not before having some warm!

I eat 1/8 of it daily, which provides 12-15 grams each of fiber, fat, and protein. Tastes like a mix of banana oatmeal and a rich dense fruit cake.

Convenient as I can take it with me easily and eat it anywhere, and don't have to make it daily.

Just Google "baked oatmeal" and you will get hundreds of recipes, with various flavor/theme variations. I tried different variations, but settled (after a year of starting baked oatmeal) on my own recipe above, which IMO optimizes taste, nutrition, satiety, and convenience.
