I'm pro-legal immigration. Simply for organization and population control's sake. I'm not cool with open borders and taking in every refugee in the world and having amnesty to allow people to skip the line. Refugees definitely need to be vetted. That's what Puerto Rico should be used for.

I'm actually speaking from first-hand experience...my mother and a few aunts/uncles immigrated here legally, took the tests, swore the oath, yada yada yada. I was lucky enough to have dual-citizenship.
I've got aunts and shit that just do the perpetual green-card renewal and half-ass citizenship while reaping benefits and not actually going "all in" on America. shits bogus. I totally get needing to escape dangerous situations, but you can't run a nation of people that expect a certain "quality of life" without rules, boundaries, and a vetting process.

I wake up every day and understand that I am a "birth lottery" winner by not being born in Iran/Syria/Turkey/Nigeria/<insert_another_hellhole_here> and I thank my lucky stars and appreciate what I've got here. I'm all for helping, but much like hospitals, there's a wait and you have to get in line.

Nobody is stopping you from donating half of your paycheck to help Syrians. If you want to pat yourself on the back and feel good, nobody is stopping you. The problem is you want to force everyone else to pay for it, while supporting the politicians that caused the very problem, ironically enough.
