We’re dominating this game. It’s a blow out aside from one freak play on the KO making the score look close. No need to worry. It’s fine. We’re fine.

I don't think the thing where we cant run in the red zone so Doeren is going to settle for field goals because he finally has a kicker who isnt complete ass is going to go away though, so we're going to have a number of games we should be "blowing out" that is a freak play or two away from being close

Sure, but the gap between Rivers and Wilson is huge, and the gap between Wilson and Finley is pretty large as well. IMO Finley is a great fit in this system and benefits from having easily the best WRs of any of those guys. Finley usually makes the right throw, but he doesn't have the pinpoint accuracy of Rivers or the ability the hit deep throws on the money like Wilson. Anything longer than 15 yards is really just Finley putting a bunch of air under the ball and hoping his guy comes down with it.

I don't have Finley nearly as much as I used to, but he isn't "special" like Rivers and Wilson were. Those guys (especially Rivers) were once in a lifetime kind of talents. Finley is a good, smart QB with an insanely good roster of targets. It wouldn't surprise me too see 4+ of these guys end up on NFL rosters.

I think if Finley is a first round draft pick, he'll be a huge fucking bust.

You don't call block in the back in the rain. That's a rule.

Yeah that’s fair. And that red zone offense has been poor for a few years now. A combination of no FG kicker previously, and funky play calling once we get there. Play calling seems better this year. Just can’t run well enough.

Glennon only played 2 years but he threw for 7000 yds and 60 tds with far worse receiving and RB talent

finleys rbs are really bad this year and hes shouldering the load. it wasnt 100% that he'd be able to do handle that but hes excelling

the WR point is good, though. especially post-priv our receivers have been pretty trash for how good our QBs are

Not very well. Surprised we haven’t seen more QB runs from them.

And yes, in hindsight Glennon and Wilson made some really average WRs look really really good.

At the time I assumed Jarvis Williams and them dudes were really good. But our QB play was propping them up.

Sure but we haven't played anyone yet this year either. The last two years he had nfl rb's and NFL OL

That would easily be Bambard's best kick.

I’ll take 3/4 on FGs all day. Of 0/0 and just get TDs.

I think we can confidently say 1) our kicking situation is as good as its been since Sade was here. And 2) he’s still a freshmen and there will probably be bumps along the way.

What is he...like 7/9 on the year? All pretty short kicks, but that’s still better than anything any of the dudes from the last 2 years have done.

Field was wet. Hard to plant your foot and get a good kick in those conditions. Hard to hold the ball too.

For the first time in a long time, I'm not worried at all about our special teams.

I'm no expert here, but I feel like you might be biased.

This is a weirdly strange box you have to keep fitting yourself into. How about instead, just enjoy the fact that "we" have a really fucking good dude under center right now.

I think Finley is a solid QB. I don't think hes a game changer in the NFL. He could be a solid backup for years to come. Almost every throw he makes downfield is "off". The throw to Harmon long down the middle, he had to dive to catch. The TD throw to Emezie was even behind him. Go back and watch last years highlights on the post throws to Harmon....he almost always had to slow down to catch the ball. Very rarely on throws down the field does he put it on the money.

I do think he normally makes the correct read and I have been around for enough terrible QB play here that I'm not bashing him. I think he comes in behind Rivers, Wilson and Glennon for 4th best QB at NC State in the last 20 years.

Regardless of what his NFL stock will be. He’s playing really well and that’s all I care about. He’s doing a great job of converting 3rd downs, throwing on the move, and getting rid of the ball to avoid sacks. Whether it’s a product of the scheme/system, or great WRs, or whatever else...doesn’t matter. He’s improved every year and looks ready to shoulder the load with our limited run game. He’s very good for us. Let’s enjoy that!
