So I had the twins 7 weeks early. One twin spent 15 days in the NICU and the other spent 21 days. They will be 4 months old this week. And I still have a hard time believing they are mine. 12/19/2023 8:26:53 PM |

What if they aren't yours? What if they got switched in the hospital? 12/20/2023 9:18:17 AM |

I just turned 44 and have a 5 and 10 year old. I’m always tired. I couldn’t imagine twins, raising two the same age at the same time. Just shoot me. 12/20/2023 9:29:37 AM |

Did you know that ALL twins are born identical? You know all of those non-identical “twins” you see walking around? They are actually just unrelated babies that got switched up at the hospital. That’s why many people these days choose to staple a livestock ear tag on their baby the moment they pop out.1/26/2024 9:16:21 PM |

^I knew a woman who gave birth at a veterinary hospital. Her actual child somehow got mixed up with a german shepherd pup. She now has to take her "son" out for walks to use the bathroom, while her actual real son is herding sheep in Austria. As you can imagine, it has been traumatic for the mother. And the sad thing is, no one seems willing to help her out. 1/26/2024 11:38:24 PM |

I just turned 40 and had a newborn on Thanksgiving 2023, to add to my 5 and 2 year old.. This post was not an inspiring look ahead to 44. I was hoping that being tired in a "because of kids" sense was something you just stop noticing/commenting on by the time your kids are older.2/2/2024 7:04:27 AM |

As a dad who had kids right after college, I did miss out on some cool shit that other friends got to do when they were younger. But now that I'm 42 and have only a year and a half of high school left with my youngest, I'm super glad that I'm not having kids now and almost through that phase of my life. My boss who is 41 and got married a lot later in life than me (during the pandemic) has been trying to have kids and it has been a LOT harder on them. They had to resort to IVF and lost one quite early, but his wife is pregnant again now. Meanwhile me and the other guy in my team who is in his 30's and has one kid are both done and got snipped. My boss is very excited about having a kid and is in a much better place financially to have one, but just on the physical energy side, I'm glad I'm not the only looking to end the year with a crying baby waking me up at night, having to change diapers, etc. I just don't know that I would have the energy for it in my 40's, and to be dealing with colleges when I'm 60 sounds rough. 2/2/2024 8:58:08 AM |

I'm 41 with a 0.25 year old and a 2.75 year old. Almost every day I ask my myself what I'm going to be doing at age 59 with one starting college or going to trade school. If I die before then, I hope I can have them set up with good life insurance and my Roth. I wouldn't have been ready for kids 5-6 years ago though. It's all working out with the perfect wife/mom for me. awwww 2/2/2024 11:25:47 AM |

What is hard about "dealing with college" as a dad at 40 versus 60? 2/14/2024 3:24:23 PM |

I am thinking in financial terms. Have a kid at 30 years old. Give them 22 years for college + a one year buffer. = 23 years. -> At age 53 for me kid will hopefully be indepenent and I can enjoy their company and build up a 12 year nest egg for retirement. Have a kid at 40 years old. Give them 23 years of almost total financial support. -> At age 63 for me kid will hopefully be independent and I can enjoy their company and build up a 2 year nest egg for retirement. Accounting for inflation on child care services and college, there won't be much of a nest egg after two years of saving with low expenses. Of course, I love my kids unconditionally, and if that means supporting them financially until I die, then so be it. Except for rape or federal drug trafficking charges brought on by them. Fuck that. Sit in prison and think about what you did.2/15/2024 4:29:07 PM |

I have had three kids in my mid to late thirties and I deal with the above situation by saving for retirement since I was 23. 3/16/2024 6:46:44 AM |
