Entered the 9th inning down 2, but we came back and scored 3. Still top of the 9th, up 5-4, bases loaded, 1-out.

Butler hit a blooper to tie it, just after a borderline pitch was called a ball. You can see how pissed the Miami fans were on the call:


Update: McDonough walked with bases loaded, Pack up 6-4

Update: Bottom of the 9th went walk, double play, strikeout to complete the sweep. That walk extended Jordan Lala's on-base streak to something like 24 games, so we did him a small favor.

State is now 23-1 on the season, 8-1 against the ACC.

Two midweek games coming up (Tuesday vs Elon, Wednesday @ NCAT), then a home series next weekend vs UVA.

Topped Elon tonight 21-2....basically BP for the guys. Now 24-1 on the season. Good stuff. Gauthier got to have an at-bat (hit up near right center) since we lost the DH with putting Debo in at 1st late in the game. Just an all-around great game by all! GO PACK!

I don't know if it's the new pitching coach or just a change in philosophy. I kind of like Avent's quick trigger approach. Foxhall would let guys just fall on the sword out there on the mound before finally pulling them out. Many times after it was already too late.

Crazy ass game. Amazing comeback in the 8th (like always) thanks to Will Wilson's shot to right center to drive in 2 runs (who were both walked). Tied 8-8 and we let USC get bases loaded with a 3-0 count with 2 outs. USC guy hits a rocket to Vasquez at 2nd who got the line drive in the air for the 3rd out.

Pack had nothing doing in the top of the 9th. Bottom of the 9th with 1 away and runner on 1st, batter hits a chopper to Will Wilson at SS who flips to 2nd for the out and Vasquez tries to turn it for double play which wasn't in time. Runner on 1st and Olson comes up and hits the right center BOMB for the walk-off. Ugh.

Great game but came up short. I think we left like 10 or so runners on base the entire game. Too many missed opportunities. Back at it Friday vs. BC.

Bases loaded 1 out. Ball lined to CF and wasn't caught. CF quickly threw to 2nd and got the force out. Runner on 3rd scored. Runner on 2nd caught in a run down b/t 2nd and 3rd and tagged out to end the game.

Wake won their midweek game 6-2 vs Liberty. Their team batting average is only .003 below ours. They are a fly-ball team, having hit one more home run than us on the season, but if it's not out of the park it's usually caught (WF 67 doubles 3 triples, compared to NCSU 90 doubles 11 triples). Wake also has the worst team ERA in the conference, a whopping 6.01, and has given up the most home runs.

Wilson ran into the UNCW first baseman, who was standing in the base path for no good reason. State pitcher sent one in high and inside on the first baseman next time he was up. It went off the bat handle and then into his helmet for a foul ball. UNCW fans were pissed because they aren't too good with the rules, apparently.
