Beverly is clearly not an acc starting guard. He is shooting threes with 35% for the season which is not bad but ever since the buzzer beater vs clemson he just jacks up shots and misses most of them. Not a ball handler. Not much of a playmaker. Not a driver to basket although he drove few times tonight. He have not shown two man passing game with bigs like last year. Just dont play him more than daniels. Play him less than 10 min. 3/20/2019 8:05:17 AM |

I agree that Braxton gets too much of a leash. There are nights where he’s off and is a liability for sure. But Daniels can be a big liability too. He’s a worse shooter than Beverly and turns it over more.
yes, we do need Beverly to be more like a 39% 3PT shooter than a 35% shooter. He was 38.5% last year...he did shoot 50 less but he played fewer games and is only averaging 1 more attempt per game this year. He doesn’t shoot a lotta FTs, but you’d kinda expect him to be better than 73%. All of that said, his FT% and 3PT% are higher than DD. He averages less turnovers in more minutes than DD. Daniels needs to improve his finishing at the rim and his jump shot.
Daniels shoots half as many as 3s as BB...so you’d expect his FG% to be much higher. Nope. It’s 40% compared to 37% for BB. And 75% of BBs shots are 3s compared to 37% for DD. And their average FG attempt/game is basically identical.
The Clemson game didn’t start BB’s tendency to jack 3s. That’s always been what he does. Before the Clemson game he was averaging 6 3PT attempts/game. Since then he’s averaging 6.6. That’s an increase, but probably not a significant one.
His strength is not driving and getting to the rim, but he’s also not totally terrible at it. He’s better than Scott Wood was. Although that’s definitely an apples:oranges comparison, it is an element of his game that, while still minimal, is an added dimension. And he can definitely handle the ball. He’s not a pure point guard but he can handle the ball well enough

^ I agree with your last point, while his 3 point shooting is down he has been making some great finishes around the rim when driving the ball.
I would love for him to start hitting 3s, especially since every team likes to roll out the zone against us. 3/20/2019 10:55:20 AM |

Yeah we definitely need BB to pick it up from 3. Bryce and Daniels too. Just need those guys to be a little more reliable. And Markell is a great 3 PT shooter off the dribble, but his game isn’t really catch and shoot on 3s. So it’s great that he’s knocking them down at a good rate, his role will never be BB’s when it comes to shooting 3s. 3/20/2019 11:46:05 AM |
