I have a poster with all the starters in the '92 Winston, first time they ran it under the lights and Davey Allison won. In that field racing for Melling was Dave Mader.

Michael Self won. Deegan got 2nd. Half the good cars were taken out a big wreck. After the restart, Deegan coming out of 2 turned a guy 90 degrees right into the fence. Typical ARCA at Daytona race.

The Twin 125s and Indy 500 Bump Day used to be my 2 favorite quirky racing days of the year.

The drivers for who tonight actually matters are Daniel Suarez (doing full season as a non-charter), Timmy Hill, Chad Finchum, Reed Sorenson, and J.J. Yeley. Justin Haley (defending July Daytona winner) and Brendan Gaughan have qualified on speed.

In a getting lapped situation after already pitted and then the leaders were putting, Daniel Suarez wrecked with Ryan Blaney and won't make the Daytona 500.

At the same time, his car was sponsored by "Toyota Certified Used Vehicles", so I'm sure the team and Suarez will manage.

^ Toyota's footing the bills. Yes, it was Gaunt Brothers Racing who were part-time with Parker Kligerman last year, but Suarez 1.) probably had no better offers, 2.) is not taking that ride unless it was a Toyota presence.

Considering only a few races have more than 40 entries, Suarez will make the field every other race this year.

Happy for Timmy Hill to make the race. I have a soft spot for Carl Long who runs the team.

The Xfinity race was kind of an old school (old school being say '90s) Daytona race of there were a 5 to 6-car pack that had a huge lead on the rest of the field. Field was strung out. Then a backmarker blew a tire which collected a couple cars, bunched up the field, and usual shenanigans then ensued after the restart.

There were only 2 Fords in the Xfinity race, Cindric and Chase Briscoe.

Would've posted but was having login issues.

It was a typical restrictor plate wreck. Newman was driving with his rear view mirror, and Blaney plowed through him. It just so happened that when Newman came off the fence there was a car to meet the driver side/roof there at speed. Expect to see it again as long as Daytona and Talladega have this kind of racing.
