See but the kicker here is that they HAVEN'T. Maybe someone in the admin is stuck in the old ways and thinks they can keep kicking the tires on burnt out former coaches / up & comers and make it work without overhauling anything. I've heard TULANE has a better NIL situation than UNC from a few podcasts lately (the source of all good and true knowledge).

So while I think at face value Bill to UNC is stupid, I can see why someone in-house would be pushing for it. I just question if his tactics and MO will work with impulsive 18 y/os with no formal contracts inked.

Yeah I kinda get it in theory. But wouldn’t they brining BB in to do the same thing Mack was supposed to do? Excite the fans and donors, get the program to a respectable level, overhaul the program and make it on par with big time CFB programs, and hand it off to a younger guy.

It also seems kinda obvious that the donors or BOT are not aligned with Bubba Cunningham. And this will be the second football coaching search where the donors get their way rather than the AD. Which all just seems dysfunctional. I’ve heard the phrase “institutional alignment” used a lot in reference to college programs. I do not think UNC has that alignment.

BB is a great coach. But do we even trust his talent evaluation anymore? The Pats were devoid of any good players by the time he left. He drafted Mac Jones. Idk…

Feels like the reporting on this has been weird. I’m guessing it’s because the BOT is leaking stuff to certain reporters. And then Belichick has his NFL people that he leaks stuff to. So it’s not really the normal local people (or even the usual national guys) with the reporting on this.

Not saying the Belichick thing won’t happen…but it does seem odd that this has been publicly dragging out since last Friday, right? Maybe I’m just misremembering most searches. But it seems like once a name is “zeroed in on” itll be official within a day or so. Or it’ll be publicly shot down. This is closing in on 5+ days. I just can’t picture Belichick glad handing boosters. Doing the politicking that a HC has to do. Putting up with a 19 year old missing an assignment or misreading a coverage. He’s used to dealing with pros. It just seems like such a drastic change.

Also, Belichick is a great coach. He also left the Pats in a terrible place when he was fired. Last couple years there were brutal. Just because BB is on the sideline doesn’t guarantee lots of Ws

I'm sure they will get some top recruits who like the idea of playing for Belichick. But I also don't think he's going to have the allure of Saban at Alabama or something either, where all the best players want to play for him. He'll go into a kid's living room and be like "When you were a child, I used to win Super Bowls with the Raiders co-owner who you may know from broadcasting games on FOX." I dunno, we'll see.

It has resulted in a few of their players removing their names from the transfer portal though.
