im thinking that the monster is some type of machine, it sounds like some type of metal contraption.

so here my theory. the monster was created, created by that french woman and or that guy who got claire. and when the monster type thing came up from the ground it was camoflouged so that you never really see it. this leads me to think that the metal submarine thing is the monster. It was camoflouged somewhat, but i dont understand why it wouldnt attact boone and locke. if that french woman and that random guy (i dont know his name) were attacking those people and either killing them are keeping them hostage, then they would say that they were putting them through troubles just like theyve gone through over the past 15 or so years.

I thought the dirt going up in the air was a tree getting uprooted. It happened a bit too fast. Also, I thought that maybe the compass is messed up because of whatever they're trying to open in the ground. Remember there is some significant power source on the island. I assume a large electrical current could generate a strong enough field to mess up a magnet, especially over a period of a week (the time boone and locke have been out there). Next week looked boring to me. We'll see.

The program guide info for this episode said "A secret is revealed about Shannons past with Boone"...my initial thought was "theyve had sex". Of course incest is something network shows will never really touch, but when it was revealed there was no blood relation, it was obvious thats where it was going.

The way Locke looks after the hatch is almost disturbing...it almost has a religious connotation with him.
