i guess it was in sawyers best intrest not to explain he had the gun as a last resort

you try being an actual first time single parent to a kid you barely known and have now lost twice within his lifetime. whereas the first time they got separated maybe have been conventually considered reasonable and common in this day and age, no one ever expects that you're gonna be stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere. and then while you're in the middle of nowhere these people that you don't even know come specifically for your kid for reasons unbeknownst to you

hell, even if you're a good parent in a stable family and your kid gets taken from you you're not going to be in a stable mental state

^^ i can see why he would say that it was sawyer's fault, he's just trying to rationalize losing walt in any way he can. the thing i had a problem with was that sawyer never bothered to set him straight on any of the details, like that he saved micheals life or that he had no way of knowing it was the others out there on that boat.
