Honestly I am new at this... I think it has some promise for a very cheap price.... At the moment it is neither bullish or bearish....

I am getting into the market as a hobby.... I have a few decent stocks but not alot of funding to purchase to much more than stocks that are over $10 a share....

Lowes, Home Depot, and Sears were all up by a good amount today, so hopefully the downgrade won't hurt too badly.

This is a paper about how stocks perform after Cramer mentions them. Links to the full paper are the bottom of the page.

http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=870498

Quote :
"Abstract:
We document market inefficiency in the in the days following the buy recommendations of Jim Cramer, host of the popular CNBC show Mad Money. The average cumulative abnormal overnight return for the smallest quartile of recommended stocks is 5.19%, and these returns completely disappear within 12 trading days. We also find that trading volume, buy-sell imbalance, and short sales volume are all significantly higher than normal on the day following Cramer's recommendations. These findings allow us to test hypotheses about the behavior of different types of traders. Finally, our GMM estimates of the components of the bid-ask spread suggest that market makers are aware of Cramer's recommendations and anticipate the order flow imbalance following Cramer's recommendations."

BP should be fined. They aren't hurt one bit by the rising cost of oil.

OSCI had a decent conference call.... all depends on the fed.... should hold it's own for the rest of the week

MOVI should be big this afternoon after 2... once the fed decides to not raise rates "hopefuly"

Just my thoughts I have been wrong before... it is the stock market you know!!!

i'd really like to get into this stock thing...i saw someone post "fixed income stocks" or something like that a few days ago; i assumed fixed income stocks would be like stocks that people that live on a fixed income could buy

i been googling it up and i came to this site- http://www.bondsonline.com/

it wasnt too helpful; i'm just trying to figure out a way i can do this without having to have a large start up amount

Well, I really can't dismantle your statement without stepping into insider-ish territory, but as a general statement, looking at past performance as an indicator of future performance is patently stupid.

I don't really have any insider knowledge, but even opinion based commentary on a public forum by employees is prohibited just to eliminate any grey areas.

I doubt anything would come of it, but i'd rather play it safe.

Guiness, sorry about MOVI......rough day, unexpected

Anyone have any thoughts on some that have just gotten killed lately, but really shouldn't have for the right reasons

NTRI - surge in profit, CEO drops, stock drops ~30%
SBUX - Great quarter, china's booming, down ~25%
HANS - Great quarter, but didn't smash expectations, down HUGE%

All these have great futures, but loosing 30% in a day sucks - anybody getting in?

southwest airlines would've been a good short buy this morning. idiots sold early after freaking out over the news without even considerin that southwest (LUV) is a domestic carrier. it's now up 1% after opening -2%

I am not a big fan of annuities, but this Immediate-Fixed Annuity appears to be an interesting concept.

bobby, the interest rate on those sucks. your talkin like 4%. although there are a bunch of good riders, some that protect your principal......these are good if your old.....while your young live large, invest in speculation - get that VA when you retire

well, i wasn't thinking about it for now... just thinking about it as a viable concept.

Every topic I bring up on here is solely based on interest in the conceptual aspect of whatever it is i'm talking about. When it comes down to actually investing my money in something, I have a financial advisor that I go to.
