my theory is that there are 2 factions of cylons... the aggressive ones that we have gotten to know, and a peaceful force, that broke off from the other group of cylons. this may have happened before the skin jobs were completely invented, so they didn't know who the other models were.

^ That doesn't make much sense, since the five are assumed to be humanoid. In other words, the invention of the humanoid cylon and then splitting up might've happened, but I don't see how that means the seven wouldn't know the five. I mean, how can they split up with one group not knowing the other?

So, someone correct me, but how long were the Cylons gone before they came back all human-looking and mystical? I thought it was only 50 years.

duh, the 2 cylon sects separated before the humanoid cylons were completed. one group took the ones we know, and the other group took the remaining 5 and each faction completed the work on them.

^^ So you're saying the metal ones were like "we need to sow discord, let's split up and make an uneven number of humanoid cylons- you make seven and I'll make five." Doesn't that mean the metal guys (who can only execute orders) know who they are? We haven't seen any other intelligent cylons aside from the humanoid ones. Who's splitting them up beforehand?

If they did split up, why bother telling the other group that there were another five? How do they know there are twelve models total?

^thats a good point, why do the skin jobs know there are a total of twelve models. Also who is pulling the strings. They make it look like the skin jobs are incharge of the cylons by method of concensus but where did the skin jobs come from in the first place? The opening credits say the evolved but can these machines really evolve on their own?

look you are not reading what I am typing.

there were metal cylons who could think for themselves before the current generation of command giving skin jobs and order taking metallic cylons.

as the previous generation was completing its research on flesh-cylons, something happened and there was a split between them. one group finished working on their cylon models, and the other group finished working on theirs, independently of one another.

Okay, and you aren't getting what I'm saying, either.

If

is true, why did none of them retain the knowledge since they can regenerate so easily? I mean, unless these "higher creation cylons" just up and decided to end themselves for some lame reason.

it IS true. that is the basis of the entire series. The humanoid cylons were invented by cylons themselves. Therefore there were metal cylons that could think freely before the current generation of cylons.

^ i really dont think Baltar is the chosen one or a cylon or anything special besides a really smart human. The whole theme with Baltar is his hubris, and all of his thoughts about his special qualities just show it more and more. He is so self involved that he thinks he is the chosen one, and his mental version of Caprica is his subconcious voicing his hubris

Best line describing Baltar is from the hybrid.

Something about his mind being on fire.

"He whose mind in on fire" or something like that

brilliant

I'm guessing that Baltar is declared insane and not held accountable for his actions

the man did have a point when he said that he literally had a gun pointed at his head when he was in office and Gaeta didn't

I'm sure if I were on the fleet I'd want Baltar strung up, but from a distanced perspective I don't think he willfully did any harm

yeah he didnt do any intentional harm in office but it was his nuke that was blown up that tipped the Cylons off to new caprica in the first place, plus he never behaved in any way but what he thinks is good for himself. Interesting character but I cant think of any redeeming qualities.

Him and Helo are my two favorite characters. Helo was suppose to be killed in the miniseries but they (the producers) liked him so much they kept him

Well, I think this 20 episode thing is wearing on them- we're getting a lot more filler. So maybe going back to 13 isn't such a bad idea.
