I think Fells midrange game is a definite strength, not a weakness! He still goes to the rim strong, but not all the time because other ACC teams do know how to play defense.

If he needs to work on anything it is the 3-point shot. He is way too streaky in that area, especially for a starting 2 guard in the ACC.

^if fells just let the offense come to him and played more within the flow of the game then i think his midrange game could be a real strength, but he starts getting frustrated when he isn't getting open shots and therefore starts forcing bad ones.

i think i'm most excited about our 2008 recruit C.J. Williams, i know he's a 3* and not one of the most heavily recruited guys but i've seen him at every home game flashing the wolf sign with his hands and he just seems to have a real love for the university already and those are the kind of players i want to see come and play here.

"Winning is best P.R. for Lowe
LANGSTON WERTZ JR.

N.C. State's men's basketball team played a first-round NIT game Tuesday night. It won't become a habit.

The Wolfpack has a solid recruiting class next year highlighted by 6-foot-9 McDonald's All-American J.J. Hickson from Marietta, Ga., and 6-1 point guard Javier Gonzalez from Miami.

N.C. State also has an early commitment from the class of 2008 from 6-4 C.J. Williams of Burlington Cummings, one of the North Carolina's top five juniors.

The Wolpack's magical run through the ACC tournament last week should ensure coach Sidney Lowe'stalent base will only grow.

"I don't think they could've hired a P.R. firm that could've accomplished one-tenth as much as what Sidney Lowe and his kids did in those four games last week," national recruiting analyst Bob Gibbons said. "This skyrockets their recruiting abilities."

Gibbons believes potential recruits, such as Wilmington New Hanover's 7-foot junior center Ty Walker, might look at the Wolfpack in a new light.

Concord Cannon's Jarell Eddie, considered among the nation's top 10 freshman players, followed the Wolfpack closely last week. He heard about Lowe winning a national championship as a player at N.C. State in 1983, but he's more interested in what the Wolfpack has done lately.

"This enhances them," he said. "It's just more attractive to think about a school with a strong program versus one that doesn't have any achievements.""

It's awesome that Lowe is getting in early with great freshman recruits. If only I could find a way to stay in school another 3 or 4 years to see us play. We will be nasty starting next year.

I had a dream bartosz was a major contributor in a game on cbs and had just came up with a loose ball inside, pivoted and jammed it in.

billy packer was telling his story about how he sat out last year with injuries and has stepped up this season as one of the effective freshmen centers in the country

I remember when I was living with my old roommates we watched a G'Town-Uconn game 2 years ago and Hibbert came on the court. We just couldn't stop laughing. He literally couldn't stand up on the court. He would get in everyones way and trip all over the court. Well, now he completely frustrated a consensus All-American and shifted momentum to help his team to the Final 4...

Of course I laughed at Adam Simons the same way and he never developed.. hopefully Bartosz will be somewhere in the middle...

I hope bartosz will be better in person than on college hoops 2k7. He bricked 2 wide open dunks and a layup and is slower than a 90 year old woman.

"J.J. Hickson, 6’9, 240 lbs., PF, Signed with North Carolina State

Having not seen Hickson since the Reebok Big Time in late July, it was surprising to see how much the athletic big man has expanded his game offensively in the past 8 months. Once considered a player who could only score from 8 feet and in, the Georgia native showed the ability to score also when facing the basket Sunday. He was able to convert on numerous 12-15 foot jump shots, while also utilizing his athleticism down low on the blocks. The N.C. State signee finished everything inside, running the pick and roll to perfection with O.J. Mayo. If Hickson is able to continue to improve at this rate, he will certainly be able to fit right in the rotation of the outstanding Wolfpack frontline of Brandon Costner and Ben McCauley next season."

Looks like Javi is a great pickup.

Quote :
"Two all-star games, two Most Valuable Player trophies.

A couple of weeks after winning MVP honors in the Dade-Broward all-star game, former Tropics standout Javi Gonzalez did it again in Saturday night's 9th-annual Senior Showcase in Orlando. He scored 15 points in 18 minutes and added 4 assists.

Gonzalez, a Krop High senior and a North Carolina State recruit, actually shared MVP honors with Florida signee Chandler Parsons, who scored 30 points. Parsons' West team beat Gonzalez's East squad, 114-103."

Also he was second in the three point shooting contest.

1. We have no scholarships available
2. We have enough forwards that we know what to do with
3. We don't need to be dropping/forcing anybody's scholarship for higher regarded recruits, we should be better than that and not stoop to that level

isn't it sort of the "right thing to do" to release these players? that seemed to be the arguement for why we released the last recruiting class. if thats the case we could be banking them on coming next year which would mean we have the scholarships for them

^Yeah if K-State DOESN'T let them out of their LOI, then that is really shitty on their part. We were helping our kids out, since they really were coming here for Herb. Luckily at least Horner stayed.

But you can't really blame K-State, they're going from looking like the next big thing to back in the shitter again if these 2 guys leave. I actually believe Sutton's comments could lead to them promoting that assistant to HC.

i wouldn't get my hopes up. we're pretty much set for the next two years. it'd be pretty sweet though if we could get them two in here next year if K-State doesn't release them and they have to sit out a year. Costner and Hickson could go pro after next year if they have great years.

^^ that's a big move to do for two guys who might only stay a year or two. if they aren't going to do it anyway, i doubt they'd do it just to appease these two recruits.

what?!

see in the past we'd hear a/b lowe II and larry harris runnin wild on the streets and that'd be the end of all hope.

but now, with the new age of king lowe, even after such crappy news...there's hope that the cursed era is truly a thing of the past...there's hope that our amazing recruiting class might just get better...and there's hope that we can, well, actually hope again...that things are starting to look good for the wolfpack nation once again

annnnd then in typical wolfpack fashion those hopes would soon be dashed

but i got a feeling...not this time, baby.

not this time.

I have a feeling those 2 will end up at K-State, WVU, or FSU. I don't know why, but I have a feeling they see immediate PT at FSU where as here we could be like UNC this year and have a log-jam of talent.

I don't think we should ditch any players for new recruits, as good as they might be. However, if it is in the player and program's best interest for guys to transfer, either b/c they won't get any PT or for academic or personal reasons, I have no problem with bringing them in.

I also believe schollys still count against us if they are enrolled at NCSU, but they could always go the JuCo route (if K State won't release them).

Here is the scholarship situation that I worked out a couple pages ago. You can give out 8 scholarships every 2 years (no more than 5 in a year) and have a total of 12 scholarship players.

Current Scholarships (10):

Jr. Gavin Grant (2004)

So. Ben McCauley (2005)
rFr. Brandon Costner (2005)
rFr. Trevor Ferguson (2005)
Fr. Bartosz Lewandowski (2006)
So. Farnold Degand (2006)
Fr. Dennis Horner (2006)

2007 Scholarships (12):

rSo. Trevor Ferguson (2005)
So. Bartosz Lewandowski (2006)
Jr. Farnold Degand (2006)
So. Dennis Horner (2006)
Fr. JJ Hickson (2007)
Fr. Tracy Smith (2007)
Fr. Johnny Thomas (2007)
Fr. Javi Gonzalez (2007)
