There are actually 20, but you do hear them all quite a lot.

You could unlock Agatha's station for some violin music, but that gets boring too.

Its 13 'songs' on GNR. Of course there is other music on the soundtrack, like the main screen theme for example. I put together the soundtrack of the actual songs right here

Yeah, I don't know why I'd deliberately listen to any of those songs on youtube - they're already stuck in my head as it is.

I know I'm way before most of you but I need a bit of help.

I just made my way to Rivet City. The three camps of Super Mutants expended all of my ammo, and every single item that restores HP. I'm level 5, so I don't know if I did it too soon or what, but it doesn't seem like it should have been that hard.

Now I have ~700 caps and 0 ammo with no stimpacks. What the hell do I do now.

Dude, you are in an Super Mutant Infested area, and some of them even have miniguns LOL. Erm, I did a lot of exploring by the time I reached Rivet City so I was strapped when I got there. Do you have any drugs on hand like Psycho, Med-x, etc. etc.?

Buy some ammo and stimpacks in rivet city? What is you character like?

Also loot the hell out of the dead muties and trade the weapons for ammo/stimpacks. If you can't carry it all just go back and forth.

Yeah... I didn't realize just how much GNR I had listened to until I caught myself humming/singing along while playing or whistling some of those songs in the office. At least its less repetitive than the Enclave station (which is funny in its own, warped way).

I've actually been listening to Enclave Radio a lot more than GNR... partially because I still haven't done Three Dog's quest (I went straight to Rivet City for the survival guide and accidentally skipped then main quest stuff when I talked to Doctor Li), so GNR isn't available out in the wastes.

Also, I just bought a sidekick named Sergeant RL-3 (he's a Mister Gutsy robot, and is surprisingly powerful... flamethrower and a plasma gun) who is constantly yelling about how shit gets done in the US Army. The patriotic music and 'presidential' addresses just seem so much more appropriate for the situation.

^ Threedog's quest has nothing to do with the GNR radio station playing in the most of the Wastes that I am aware of.

You get no reception on GNR out in the wasteland (past Megaton it starts to fade out) until you fix whatever it is on top of the Washington Monument. Quest is called Galaxy News Radio and the whole point of it is for GNR to get better reception.

If you mean the main story quest... as far as I understood it, unless you pass a speech check, Three Dog wouldn't tell you where your father went until after you'd done the GNR quest for him. But, again, you can skip most of that main-story quest entirely just by talking to Doctor Li at Rivet City.

Usually I only turn them on after a radio somewhere in the environment reminds me that a radio exists... and then it usually gets turned off again once President Eden says "I want to talk about government... specifically, YOUR government" for the fourth time... or if I'm listening to GNR, once Three Dog shouts "Vacation? Revolution?! Somebody FART?" for who knows how many times... or I just get utterly sick of how disgustingly campy 50s music is. One of those.

took a bit to respond, but still need some tips.

Quote :

Yes, have a lot of the stat boosting and red drugs, just no stimpacks, water, or food.

Quote :
"Also loot the hell out of the dead muties and trade the weapons for ammo/stimpacks. If you can't carry it all just go back and forth."

The only ones I was able to loot had dick on them. I am rocking a mini gun with about 800 rounds at lvl 5 though, but I'm mostly small guns and figured I shouldn't wast that on anything but harder places.

There were two on a bridge between two buildings with a laser mini gun and an effing rocket launcher who I killed with nothing but a hunting rifle and couldn't get to for the loot

Any ideas? Go back to Megaton and do the main story? I have like 1 other quest to deliver the letter. I don't exactly feel underpowered where I am, just grossly undergeared...

Nah, you should be okay. I didn't really get serious about the main storyline until after I had wrapped up most of the interesting side-quests. Besides, once you beat the main quest, the game automatically ends, and so you won't be able to see the other side stuff. The only thing I would advise is be careful not to accidentally skip parts of the main quest in the process.

As for looting, towards the end when hunting rifles and assault rifles littered the field, I ended up using my half-decent repair skill to merge weapons together. Usually, the repaired weapon's value is better than the two weaker weapons by themselves.

^^^ Dude, I would say if you don't have any weapons that dish out 20 Damage, or can't repair them to do so, you might be in over your head in this area if this is your first play through.

here's how i like to handle to big monsters. make a bunch of nuka-grenades and/or bottle cap mines. get the monsters corralled up by letting them chase you, then pop off a couple grenades or explosives. it will either kill them or soften them up enough to use your guns.

oh, and i can't stand to listen to GNR because of three dog. that "hello chiiiidren" is like nails on a chalkboard. if you kill him, will it still play the music?

Been doing this since I started... Repair is one of the best skills in the game hands down.

Not only does is increase your damage done with basically all weapons (anything for which you can find other weapons of the same type), it also saves a ton of money and inventory space. And I feel better about myself because I'm not leaving (good) weapons just laying there on corpses.

Yeah, repair was the first thing I maxed my second time around. I'm now at level 18 and have maxed (through points + items) repair, science, small guns, medicine, lockpick and sneak. Speech is next, followed by energy weapons. Everything else is a meh-skill.

Welcome. Yeah, this is the path I'm taking. I usually try to talk to most named NPCs to get any quests they have. Since I heard the main story is short, I give these quests top priority and just continue to take on additional side quests in the places I discover.

Eventually my side quest list becomes empty and I do whatever my current main quest is. I'm currently at level 14 and I just talked to that Dr. in Rivet city.

Quote :

Yeah. I want to make sure I don't do that. I'm aware of the GNR quest being skipped if you talk to that Dr. in Rivet city first. Any other quests I need a heads up on? Currently I'm down to no active side quests, so I have to do the main quest that takes you to ?Jefferson Memorial? (I don't remember the location since the quest has been dormant for a long time, it's the one that Dr. in Rivet city gives). How far is that into the main quest? Not far I'd suspect/hope, it's only like the 4th main quest. If it's far, or even half-way I guess I'll just wander aimlessly around the map. Seems like the game wants to confine you to that bottom corner of the map - does the main story ever arc you out to other areas?

^I skipped that as well by talking to Dr. Li in Rivet city. Once you find/go to the GNR station, you can still do that quest.

There's some garage or something, forgot the name of it, that starts you even further on the main story if you get too close (in other words, if you try to enter it) during your random exploration of the map. It's hard to know that you're going to be skipping anything, too.

The worst part of this one? It can glitch the game, since you can get jumped way ahead of where you should be, so certain conditions might not be met for certain things.

Read about this one on the fallout wiki but I forgot what it was called and don't feel like looking it up.

I have to admit that its one of the things that surprised me the most, especially given the open-ended nature of the game. You'd think it wouldn't be all that hard to turn off certain dialog options or lock a few doors until previous main quests were completed...

Nitpick though. Game still kicks ass.
