last night sucked, it took way too long and was incredibly unorganized. plus the prizes were super lame.

there were 2 rounds of just commercial slogans (one for candy and one for beer). one would have been fine but it got boring.

lame prizes are the result of *gasp* beer reps just not being able to continually rape their storage warehouses everytime I want "some random shit for trivia". There isn't much we can do, really, unless you expect us to just go out and spend $400 on bar neons and the like. The aim is for it to be fun. I'm sorry it was not last night.

The gift certs are aimed at getting ppl to return at another time. It isn't rocket science. That's why they can't be used the night they're received.

Turns out at least one of the plaintiffs in the last few posts was called out for cheating last night. Also heard from a few others who weren't called out that trivia was a lot of fun last night. :shrug:

Anywho, I trust those who enjoy the food, specials, and ruckus environment will continue to play. No doubt in my mind.

And, to answer what on earth one is supposed to do with $15 worth of food...a lot. A whole lot. A whole lot of good, free food.

What sucks is having 5 people on your team, really only 2 of them are answering any questions, but because our friends wanted to hang out with us we get accused of using too many people.

I always bring a crowd to the bar, just because they aren't playing trivia doesn't I mean they shouldn't be able to socialize with me. As long as they keep buying alcohol, amirite?

Oh well, one week left and I'm out of here anyway. But that the winning streak had to come to an end.

Flat out (and I'm not sure why this doesn't sink in), if you've got 6, 7, 8 people surrounding your table, the first and only indication is that you've got 6, 7, 8 people participating in trivia. It's the only viable appearance in that scenario. It looks sketch as all hell to the other teams, and thus compromises the integrity of the whole competition. If you don't really get that, toodles. My God.

We make that announcement at the beginning of damn near every trivia event, and, more than likely, several times throughout. A rule is a rule is a rule, and if you just absolutely refuse to abide, then just leave. It's simple. As far as buddys always wanting to hang at your table while you play, ask them to kick it outside, or somewhere else until trivia is over, though I doubt there are 3-4 people consistently who come out to merely stand at your table while you guys play.

Again; if you can't understand why the mere APPEARANCE of 8 people at your trivia table doesn't damn near ruin the integrity of the game, then I really don't know what to tell you. Life will probably be really, really difficult, though.

As far as you not knowing what I'm talking about, I'll expound for you. I'm talking about the musings of 3 people who have come to me and said that various teams routinely have their iPhones out, and/or, have 6-8 people hovering around their table, surely, just watching television and minding their business. Just because your iPhones are out, of course, doesn't mean you're cheating. It is, however, a very clear rule from the outset that you are not to have your iPhones--or any phone--out during trivia play. If you want further confirmation, ask any other trivia hosts in the continental US.

and more than likely, I will be your host from now on. Aaron has long been tired of it, and I'm sure (regrettably) it has shown. As far as the prizes, I heard from several people that the "lame" "dollar store prizes" went over very, very well, for the most part. If your goal in your 20s is to erect a "beer room" in your apartment, I am sorry. Harris Wholesale, Mims Distributing and Foothills can only give so many bars so much junk over the course of 8 months. There will be some good nights for prizes, and some not so good. If any of you can persuade any of those companies to cut 300 or so bars out of the mix for the sole good of Ruckus Trivia, there will be a great reward for you.

You know, I understood the rule about not having more than 5 people on a team, which is why I told the people who weren't actually playing at our table to put their hands down but they had already been counted. I understand it, but that doesn't mean I like to relegate all my other friends to the nether regions of smoke and cornhole.

As for the gift certificates, you guys have the right to operate the game night any way you want, but did someone just figure out the 'no free alcohol' rule or did ya'll get in ALE trouble? I always spend mine on food, so it doesn't really matter to me. $15 is like 2 combos at Ruckus, or 1 pizza...unless you don't eat, it's pretty easy to spend it on food.

My team has dispersed, any extra space, anyone?

nah, no trouble with ALE. but we started doing trivia without a real clear idea about various things, ie, prizes, etc. so, we pushed the envelope w/ the gift certs for all Ruckus purchases just to get in the door, per se. as time passed, we realized it's risky enough that we needed to fix that. SO, you now get great food for free if you win some Trivia. that, and other cool prizes (sometimes).

^as far as kicking out friends, I know, it sucks, but it's about appearance. it does, in fact, matter in competitive trivia. SEVERAL teams have bitched about teams (presumably you guys) having too many people on a team. why didn't they just start their own team? seems the only logical step, really.
