Qell I feel like there's never an excuse for it, its never justified, and you should never judge the victim. I don't care if the girl was 'dressed like a slut,` it shouldn't happen.

And I feel like that's a made up statistic.

i think there are definitely some that could be prevented, but it depends on the classification of the "rape", like if a girl goes to a bar alone, gets drunk and sleeps with a guy she doesnt want to then claims she was raped.

It's a serious question that demands a certain level of maturity that you obviously don't have to answer honestly.

I agree with grimx that those aren't safe and can lead to people taking advantage of a girl or guy... But I guess I just feel like they can be prevented if all the abusers out there (or potential ones) would wise up and realize its sick, pathetic of them, etc.

I actually don't believe in gay marriage and I would consider myself socially conservative.. I voted for McCain.

Terpball, I love how you're commenting on Davids level of maturity when you're asking such ridiculous questions.

Why are you such a pain in the ass? Is this just for attention? Did your mommy not love you?

Regardless, I know I'm cute and I know my bf of 2+ years thinks so too. And that's all that matters to me, not ridiculous opinions of guys that don't mean shit to me. kbyeee.

^2 I think the most you can do at this point is give them time. Maybe they just need time to cool off -- I think if you're apologies were genuine and sincere they will be able to see you're trying to make up for what you did. Although, I hate to say this, some people just do not forgive and hold grudges. (I happen to be one of those people )

So, I guess my final answer is just try to be yourself and let them approach you next. I think constantly apologizing will just make it worse because it may seem like you're hounding them. Give them time to move on.

ps that situation really sucks and I'm sorry, hope you feel better

^ I think it all depends. If the person is a total asshole, that really affects their tip. But if they're pretty good to great, I usually give way more than I'm supposed to.. I think I'm biased though, because my mom and stepdad were bartenders for almost 10 years so I know that's where the majority of their moolah comes from.

TIP YOUR BARTENDERS, GEEZ!

what are your main concerns over gay marriage?

do you believe that homosexuality is a choice or that people are born gay?

do you find homosexuality to be a sin?

^ Well, it all started when I watched this video about it in my philosophy class. What really bothered me is the amount of people in that documentary who were viewing it as a gain to themselves for what I felt were the wrong reasons. There were a lot of people they interviewed who were focused on the tax right offs, and similar things concerning the act. I also just don't feel like it's "natural" -- I know I will probably catch so much shit over that comment but ya know, not everyone's going to like how everyone feels about it so I'm just going to warn whoever doesn't like that comment.. That's just how I feel and it probably won't change anytime soon.

I don't feel it's a choice for everyone, but I don't feel like people are born that way. I think as a child you can live in an environment that is more likely to shape the way you view others and lead you towards being gay.

I do feel it's a sin -- however, everyone sins. Technically, a couple living together that aren't married are said to be "living in sin." So, I'm not going to go up to one of my gay friends and be like "UGH SINNER" because that's just hypocritical really.

I really don't mind unions, although I'm not going to lie, I don't know everything that those entail.

I never really enjoyed the gay marriage discussions I am firm in my opinions and have my reasons for feeling the way I do but at the same time I don't want anyone to be offended.

i think the tax benefits are an argument for how prohibiting their marriage is an act of discrimination and not the reason for them to get married. being that committed straights can have tax benefits and gays can't has a huge financial impact on them as a whole. increased taxation with less representation. Do you see the point in that and how do you think this point should be addressed?

Quote :
"you can live in an environment that is more likely to shape the way"

such as what? something simple such as your mother babying you too much or no church involvement or something more complex such as an aggregate of events? if you can think of an example, i'm really interested in hearing it.

What makes you believe its a sin?

Although the phrase is living in sin, do you actually believe it is a sin for a straight couple to live together before marriage?

What determines what is and is not a sin for you?

Quote :
"I really don't mind unions, although I'm not going to lie, I don't know everything that those entail."

why is it you do not mind unions but do mind marriage? what is the line being crossed for you here? do you feel that marriage is a christian union despite marriages existing in history well before monotheism?

^2 I do see the point in the tax benefits part, but I was disgruntled by how much time those people spent talking about it. I guess in my mind, what would matter the most would be how much you love the person you're with and want to be with them more than what tax benefits you get. I know there are gay couples out there who feel that way though, so don't think I'm just assuming all couples are more concerned with taxes please

I just feel it's more an environment thing than someone being born that way because I honestly just can't fathom a 2 year old having homosexual tendencies for no reason. I honestly don't want to name a specific example because I feel like there's always going to be an exception to it. You don't know everyone's exact experiences growing up in their household, so I think instead of just giving an answer such as "a single parent household" I would have to say I think it comes from relationships/experiences with your parents, friends, etc.

I think it is sinful for a couple that's not married to be living together, but that doesn't mean I would look down on someone for doing it. I can't even say I would never end up in that situation. What is and isn't a sin in my eyes I think has just been formed over the years from experiences at church, teachings from my family, etc. I am going to throw the Bible in there, although I'm sure some will have an issue with this.

I guess I don't mind unions as much because I feel marriage in our society has a lot of religious ties and I personally feel it should be between a man and woman under the eyes of God. I'm sure lots of people would disagree due to your point about marriages existing before monotheism, but I believe marriage in our society has a Christian background and gay marriage is something that I just don't believe in.

^ Oh I don't think it matters if it's a choice or not. I agree and disagree with separation of church and state -- I think it's possible to go overboard as far as involving religion and the government but at the same time I don't think we are a country that had no religious ties with our government at all when the US was founded. So I guess some involvement I support, but having religion brought into every bit of legislation and every little argument is a bit much.

PS I haven't seen you in a while! how are you doing?

PSS, these are some tough questions yall are asking

Then what is your take on the correlation between homosexuals and chromosomal patterns of gay men, birth order, and x chromosome signatures of the mothers?

Quote :
"I think has just been formed over the years from experiences at church, teachings from my family, etc. I am going to throw the Bible in there"

so does something have to be explicitly mentioned in the bible for it to be considered a sin? if yes, then do you still find eating shellfish and crossing meat and cheese as sins since they are explicitly mentioned in the bible? I ask because those are mentioned in the bible and neither living together nor premarital sex are mentioned.

Quote :
"I believe marriage in our society has a Christian background and gay marriage is something that I just don't believe in."

since our society has a christian background should jews, muslims and atheists be allowed to marry? Is a union of two people who do not believe in a higher power and who blaspheme more holy than that of two people of the same sex who do right by the bible?

furthermore you appear to have a republican stance. Do you believe in smaller government? What role does government have in involving itself in our personal lives to the degree of dictating who we may and may not marry? If we have this much religious involvement in our government where do we cross the line into theocracy?

^2 With homosexuality and genetics, my take is there isn't enough evidence to establish anything at this point. I was a genetics minor so trust me, we went over the topic - while some research articles that maybe it could go in that direction, the results were vague. If they happen to find a strong correlation between genetics and homosexuality one day, then I'll discuss the topic then but as of right now, I don't think there's enough evidence to conclude anything.

I never said something had to be explicitly mentioned by the Bible, I simply added it in as one of the things that has helped shape my beliefs. I'll fully admit I've sinned before since I love shellfish.

I guess I should have said religious background instead of Christian background. Either way, I'm not going to sit here and say one couple's marriage is holier than the other couple's. First off, I think that's rude, and secondly it's not my place to decide what's holy and what isn't. Concerning athiests, that's a tough question... I suppose I never really formed an opinion concerning those marriages because I've always felt it to be a religious experience. I think I'll have to sit on that one a little longer to formulate a true opinion of it.

I do have a Republican stance, and I am for smaller government... I'm not going to lie though, I've definitely been embarrassed by certain GOP members Like I said, I obviously believe marriage should be between man and woman but I think the government would be going too far to limit said marriages to social classes or certain nationalities. I don't think we have the amount of religious involvement that is needed for a theocracy. That would involve bringing in actual religious leaders and counting a deity as our supreme ruler of the nation.

Just a question for you, would I be receiving this line of questioning if I was for gay marriage?

^ For sure
