^^^ yeah it will be hard to prove a monument was put up because of racism, but in cases where it can be proved, it shouldn't be a fight to move or change. Statues do change occasionally, there's no rule that say they need to stand forever until the end of time.

And another aspect of systemic racism is that institutions established when racism was accepted persist until they wouldn't have been established in the first place. It's pretty reasonable to recognize this and replace at least some of these monuments with more relevant ones. This also shouldn't require the legislature to vote on it.

If there are 10 monuments put up during jim crow for "confederate pride" and 1 for civil rights put up recently, there's nothing wrong with taking down a few of those 10 to celebrate something more relevant to the modern age.

We could just keep making new monuments, but then there will be monuments everywhere.

Either way, it doesn't make sense for the legislature to have to vote on all of these monument changes. This is bureaucracy and micromanagement at the worst levels.

On my trip to Wilmington 2 weekends ago, I took NC-218 from Charlotte through Polkton to bypass Monroe. I have done this trip literally dozens of times during the 2010-2012 time period. I never remember seeing as many confederate flags as i've seen this past trip.

Seems like the NAACP's plan is backfiring.....

I wasn't speaking directly about WV but yes it's very weird. My aunt lives in south WV in a town filled with old People from DC. A good friend of mine is from north WV and flys to Pittsburg to get home.
