I've been bothered by all this. I'm actually surprised no one outside of this forum (in the news) has articulated the fact that having a gay person in a female or male locker room would present some sexual tensions that were attempting to be avoided by having a women/men locker room setup.

CJ saying he doesnt want gays in his locker room is really no different than saying you dont want women in the men's locker room, or men in the women's. Gays think its different because they are looking for discrimination claims around every corner, but if they looked evenly shallowly at the intent of the locker room setup, they would realize CJ's comments are just a reflection of that reality.

Not his fault. I'm irritated at the administration for having any comment on this.

If our coach punishes him in any way for this, I'll never respect him again.

No. But you can't ignore the potential for weirdness, and there is nothing wrong for feeling that way. It no more wrong than a woman being forced to undress in a locker room with men. They may not want to jump her bones, but I could completely understand why she wouldnt want that. I wouldn't be screaming gender discrimination against her either.

Bottom line: Was it a comment that he should have made given his situation? No. Do I think there is anything wrong or or intentionally discriminatory with his comments? No.

Let me preface this by saying that "I ain't no anti-gay," but I'm with CarZin on this one. It's exactly the same as a straight man in a women's locker room or a straight woman in a men's locker room.

You can't selectively argue for equal treatment. If the gay community is fighting for marriage on the grounds that love (and by extension, attraction) b/t two people of the same sex is equivalent to that of a man & woman, then you can't turn around and argue that a gay person should be treated exactly the same as a straight person in a same-sex locker room type environment without extending that argument to the straight equivalent.

You'd essentially be arguing that a gay dude checking out a naked dude is different from a straight guy checking out a naked female. That logic is in direct conflict with the continuing fight for legal and civil equality.

All that being said, while I empathize with CJL's position, his words and choice of forum were poorly chosen.
