Nothing at all. Just wondering why its ok to bash doeren 7 games in but not TOB 60 games in.

As we've seen in basketball, its easy to pile on a coach when they are playing a team theyre supposed to get killed by. We're overmatched at every position. everyone needs to take ot easy.

So far into his tenure, Doeren is looking much more like a recruiting coach than a game-planning coach. So, unless he starts signing a bunch a 4 and 5 star recruits, this is going to be a failure.

I guess to put it another way, Doeren is more Amato than he is O'Brien.

I never said he was good at it. He just depended on his game planning and coaching up the players more than just trying to recruit good players.

Looking at NIUs success it looks like Doeren's work there isn't as impressive as it sounded when he was hired.
He did not take them to a BCS, rather just guided them to one. The foundation for that program was already laid with Kill. What he's doing here is something he hasn't done before which is build a program. He obviously seems slightly out of depth and that is understandable when he is learning on the job. We have a great staff esp at OC with Canada. The fact that our offense hasn't clicked so far with a guy like him shows that talent is what this team is lacking. We have no option but to wait out and hope Doeren recruits his way to success initially. I think he is capable enough to do that. Yow is clearly looking for Doeren to be a Beamer like figure for our program, which is something that will pay dividends only in the super long term. Till then, like it or not we have to rely on parameters other than W-Ls to determine his performance...

It didn't even look that impressive then. Most of the teams he played had losing records, IIRC a majority of the teams he played against had fewer than 4 wins at the end of the season.

In his defense TOB left us a team that has less talent than Duke.

As far as getting the most out of what you have. Yea he hasn't done that.

Which doesn't really make sense since he should be used to coaching MAC level talent.

This team isn't that out-talented. Offensive line needs a little work and the QB situation does not fit this offense. Otherwise, there is enough talent on this team to out perform the horseshit we've seen so far.
