Young, up and coming, energetic coach currently at Memphis. Former walk-on who earned a scholarship on Arizona's '97 National Championship team. Has coached under Lute Olsen and John Calipari. Strong recruiter.

Remember, whoever we get better hold daily dunk practices, wear a pimp suit, and shout at people a lot or else some NC State fans will never be satisfied with them.
Actually, I'm pretty sure the only coach that would satisfy PackPride is Coach K doing a terrible Chuck Amato impression (wins+the flash that they crave). 12/20/2010 9:23:43 PM |

Honestly, I think it's embarrassing to do these NBA style introductions with all the hype and music and shit and be a mediocre NIT team.
We try too hard. We belong back at Reynolds running out to a tape recording of "Life On Campus At NC State"

If given the choice of coaching at a college that's shown it can recruit Final Four-level talent, that plays in an NBA city, and coming to Raleigh to live in the shadow of UNC and Duke and get yelled at constantly if you don't win the ACC and/or tell jokes and yell and scream and demand players copy everything the 1990 UNLV team did on the court, what would you choose?

Pastner would be pretty cool. I could see there being a few positives of moving to State, particularly if we offer a decent amount of money, but I know he has another 2 years or something on his contract, and I don't know how attached to Memphis he is. 12/20/2010 10:28:47 PM |

Man I just assumed Donnie Jones was along for the ride at Florida but it turns out he's basically the reason they won the National Championships. Billy Donovan is a fraud, let's get Jones before Florida realizes what was going on
Quote : | "Recruiting Success Jones excelled on the recruiting trail while at Florida. During his time at the school, the program signed 11 McDonald's High School All-America selections and boasted top-five national recruiting classes on five occasions. Jones also helped recruit and mentor 12 National Basketball Association Draft picks while at Florida, including five lottery selections. Jones' NBA players include Matt Bonner, David Lee, Mike Miller and Jason Williams. Following Florida's 2007 national title, five of Jones' pupils - Corey Brewer, Taurean Green, Al Horford, Joakim Noah and Chris Richard - were selected in the draft. " |

Turnaround at Marshall Jones came to UCF after three seasons at Marshall, where he quickly turned around the Thundering Herd program. Jones was named Marshall's head coach in 2007. He inherited a program that had struggled since joining Conference USA in 2005, and quickly changed the culture surrounding the Herd. Less than three years later, Jones led the Herd to one of the top campaigns in program history. In 2009-10, Marshall went 24-10 and advanced to the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament. The appearance was the first trip to the postseason in 22 years for the school. Jones' squad began the tournament with a victory over Western Carolina, giving Marshall its first postseason win since 1967. Marshall finished the year 11-5 in C-USA play, tying the Herd for third in the league and serving as the school's best conference finish since 2000-01. Marshall had one of the most prolific offenses in the country and led C-USA by scoring 79.9 points per game. The team also paced the league in field-goal percentage (47.8) and scoring margin (+10.9). Marshall totaled a school-record 2,717 points during the campaign" |
