Quote : | "AT&T charges $25 for 2 gigabytes of mobile data, which states how much they think their bits and bytes are worth. That comes out to 80 megabytes per dollar. 80 megabytes will get you 500,000 text messages—assuming you're writing the largest possible message, which you're often not (i.e. "Hey" "Nothing" "lol").
Now divide that dollar by the 500,000 potential texts. That comes out to $0.000002 per text—two ten thousandths of a cent. A very, very, very small amount of money.
Now, let's say you send 5,000 texts a month. That's a large, though wholly realistic number. Multiply that by the above worthless cost per text, and you've got—hold onto your wallet!—$0.01. A penny for five thousand texts, according to how much AT&T says its data is worth in a data plan.
But outside of the data plan? Oh boy! Things get very different very fast. And by very different, I mean inordinately overpriced. Those same 5,000 texts, at a rate of $0.20 per message, will cost you $1,000. Not a penny—a grand. Two very different prices for literally the exact same thing." |

I'm interested to see what happens with Sprint if it comes to the carrier. I might have to pick up one just for the sake of programming on it if it won't cost an arm and a leg to add a line for it. If it can be only like 20 bucks more a month on my current plan, then I'll carry both an Android and iOS phone with me in some form as I'm starting to get into programming for both of them hard core. 8/24/2011 10:40:48 PM |

I'm not sure if there is a way to do this, but I have my iPhone synced up with Gmail and I have a document in my email I need to reference at times. Right now every time I need to see that document(I think it is just a word .doc file) I have to open my email, do a search for the email in my inbox, and then open the file. Is there a way to save that .doc file on my iPhone so I can just open it up off my iPhone instead of through gmail? 9/19/2011 3:47:41 PM |

Have you installed iBooks (free from Apple through the app store)?
It can save PDFs this way, i'm not sure about .doc files.

So, presumably the iPhone 5 will be announced within weeks. I haven't heard all that much speculation about it lately--I guess with all of the postponing, people have just said "Fuck it, we'll check it out when it arrives, whenever that happens to be."
Any educated guesses floating around out there about what new features it will have? 9/19/2011 9:20:11 PM |

Have you checked out iOS 5? I would say that I've never been as satisfied with a product as my iPhone 4 (particularly on iOS 5) before. Enough that I'd take a(nother) chance on Apple and pre-order an iPhone 5 to receive on launch day. 9/19/2011 9:32:06 PM |

I had a 3GS and now have a 4. It's on iOS 4; I didn't even know that iOS 5 was out.
Basically, I'm wondering if it'll be worthwhile to sell my 4 and buy a 5 out of pocket, as I'm not due for an upgrade yet. I seriously doubt it, but I do wonder what the iPhone 5 will introduce. 9/19/2011 9:43:47 PM |

iOS 5 is not "out" but it's available to developers. You can watch a video or go to a website explaining what else it brings to the phone though. I think it just makes the thing far more usable. I do wish they had a different maps interface however. Anyway, what I was saying is that I was so blown away by how well the iPhone 4 works -especially with iOS 5- that I'm rather certain that I'll consider the next one "worth it" especially considering in all likelihood the iPhone 4 will still be worth $200-300 when the 5 is released. If it's a world phone, I'll likely buy it w/out a contract. 9/19/2011 11:10:29 PM |

I've said it plenty of times, but I really hate discussing rumors as fact. That being said, it's been projected many places that there will most likely be multiple versions of the iPhone being announced very soon. Some people also seem to think that Apple will sell a 4S or even the 4 itself without contract and for a price point that is in the current range of the iPod Touch. (i.e. replace the iPod Touch with a simless iPhone)
So basically right now you can easily sell your used 16GB iPhone4 for $400 on ebay. If those rumors are true, you'll be lucky to get $150 for it a month from now. Just a potential heads up for anyone asking/thinking about selling their 4 to make room for the 5. In the past, you've always been able to sell your old phone and more than cover the cost of the new one. If this rumor is true, that won't be the case this time around.] 9/20/2011 12:42:34 PM |

It is the final custom deployment our team will be doing(using our accelerator platform) as we are now focusing on improving the platform, rather than doing deployment work.
