OK so somebody needs to keep me away from the computers in this house, before I buy EVERYTHING.

plus about $200 worth of stuff at William Sonoma. B IS GOING TO KILL ME.

... but it's totally worth it

I really wanted like 10 of the suits from that Orchid Boutique that Joie got hers from, but I cannot afford those. So, I opted to try 3 suits from Victoria's Secret since they have an excellent return policy on anything I don't like or doesn't fit (thanks to elkaybie's suggestion). Here are the ones I opted for:

Wellllllll that's yet to be determined. I haven't bought a bathing suit from VS in 4 years, and I have grown a bit on top since then. So I have no idea if they'll fit or not. But I'm pretty stoked if they do!!!

And yeah, that first one is my favorite.

looks moderately easy to sew! find some fabric you like & get someone to whip it up!

im buying this pattern this weekend and attempting to sew it, im thinking seersucker but might go for a more formal material so i can wear it to some weddings i have to attend later this year

edit: the "models: make the dress look SUPER old school. its not really, i saw one that someone made and loved it so much i hunted down the pattern. will def post pics when i finish it up but its going to be a few months i think bc i dont have the space to cut the fabric (the whole thing is made with 2 pieces!)

how do you vote for her? I can't seem to 'like' the pic. not sure if I want to add Revolution as a friend either

also I LOVE that pattern!! I'm actually a fan of the retro-ness. The skirt probably won't poof that much without a petticoat, maybe that's why it looks different in person

The thing I don't like about the illustration is the Barbie-like dimensions of the drawings That's why I want to see what it looks like on a real person to get an idea of what the dress really looks like.

^ i dont have a pic of the girl in the dress (it was an alterations class and i didnt know her so it would have been weird) but it was VERY cute. casual or dressy could work depending on the material you choose

if you know how to alter patterns, definitely take the time to alter this one. other ladies there who had made the dress said it was a TERRIBLE fit and that it definitley needs altering so you can cut some of that off at the pass by pinning the pattern to you and making adjustments to the pattern before you cut the material so you're not doing extensive alterations later

i will keep my progress posted in here once it starts.. like i said, going to be awhile

^the chick looks like G.O.D

also...i've been bad this week...i've bought 3 watches and 5 sun dresses...i probably won't keep the dresses though since i ordered them from target online...

these are the 3 watches i got...for $45 (so i'm excited about that)

and the dresses...for $90 (of course they are the same dress in different colors)

Joie I adore that dress. It would be great considering the occasion and look stunning on you. DO IT!!!

also, casey, take all those dresses back and get a Lilly. The bottom 2 dresses that you posted may be way to short for them long legs girl. Also, I have a lilly that you would probably fit into and because I got fat you can borrow it

i'm not paying $150+ for one dress that i won't wear very often...(not right now, at least)

i wear sun dresses every day during the summer so i need a variety

i may take you up on borrowing yours though

go to the store in cameron village or belk and figure out what size works for you. The cut is pretty consistent

Good to know! We'll be learning alterations in my class later this semester so maybe the dress will be the project I choose.

I'm kind of disappointed with the corset I got from them The top part just makes my boobs look completely weird. Maybe I'm just not tying it correctly?

starting from the middle and then tightening out?

what cut did you get?
for example..victorian cuts will always look awkward on me because of my body shape

that and i have a long, long torso.
theyre actually building it on me its so long

I got the wedding corset. I was kind of surprised because the only measurement he asked for from me was my waist size. I should have given him my other measurements anyway.

most of the bridal overbusts are premade... that might be it.

yeah, if you want a couture made bridal youll need to talk to them directly.

if you go to their website, theyre under "ready to wear" ...meaning not custom

I asked him if it was made to measure and he said it was though. Which I don't understand why he told me that if that wasn't the case.

awww im sorry
maybe he got confused because "made to measure" can be based off of a single measurement (as opposed to something totally custom)

in any case that sucks

[Edited on March 2, 2011 at 2:30 PM. Reason : think thats the correct terminology? but regardless they are "ready to wear" and u shoulda known ]

Yeah, I did it all through etsy. I didn't even know they had a website until after I had placed the order. Live and learn I guess but I'm peeved I spent $150 on something that was supposed to be custom made (and he did quote me a 6 week turnaround on making it too) and it doesn't look very good. I could have spent a lot less on something from China and had it look about the same

it may have a real good resale value! i think ive seen them on ebay for like 100-120ish

[Edited on March 2, 2011 at 2:33 PM. Reason : oh gosh! yeah most of their custom stuff starts at 210! ]
