These people always piss me off because they smoke pot all. the. time.... sometimes so much I can smell it in my apartment (I'm the floor above them). And they're super loud while playing Smash Brothers. But tonight, homeboy locked his crazy ass loud girlfriend outside of his door and she started yelling, then he was yelling back... I guess he let her in but I can still hear them screaming at each other. Although it just stopped so I don't know what's going on now... OH WAIT there it goes again.


FWIW, I normally don't care about potheads if they're polite. But when you're loud as fuck at all hours of the day (I have witnessed their antics everywhere from 11 am to 3 in the morning) and your sketchy friends (who don't live here) smoke pot in front of the building, I have an issue with that. Oh and when your tires are slashed and windows are busted out? Yeah, probably a sign you're not a nice, innocent pothead.

the choice of "a" versus "an" is purely a phonetics-driven rule.

A Material Safety Data Sheet(MSDS) is correct.
An MSDS is also correct.
A MSDS makes you sound like a monkey.

Same thing goes for people that like to use "an" in front of the word historic or historical to try and sound smart.

I don't care so much in casual stuff on the internet, but when I write a document (that will be issued with my name on it) and someone above me is supposed to be reviewing it (mainly for the technical info), it is really annoying to get someone circling items in red purely for what they consider to be grammatically incorrect. The red ink part makes it more annoying because then I actually have to (by procedure) talk to that person and get them to initial that I agree or disagree to make the change.

if you were to spell out the letter M, it would be something like "Em" which starts with a vowel

so you should use "an MSDS" like the word starts with a vowel because it is pronounced like it does
