Hell, I've got a challenge for you pro-warrior people (no, not pro as in professional)
On Stormreaver, I'm willing to bet $20 I can make any non-warrior alliance character, lvl him/her up to 30, and at the same time, you make a warrior on horde, given all the money and best gear the Waaaagh Brigade can support you with, and I, with no support from my guild (currently I am a 58 warrior on Mal`ganis and am part of the Warsong Battalion http://www.warsongbattalion.com, will be able to pk you 9 times out of 10. No external buffs, potions. Just pure class vs class. I'm sure you can take a guess at what class I'd use to defeat a warrior and by now your warrior balls have retreated back up the body from which they came. So I dare you, actually try the warrior from yourself then get back to me about how "good" they are in pvp. 2/7/2005 12:56:39 AM |

Warriors are fun. You mostly live and die on your equipment however. Most of the good warrior abilities are based upon your base weapon/attack damage. So if you've got crap for weapons, then you aren't going to be very effective. You are also the primary damage taker so it is always important to have good armor with good stats. Warriors are the KINGs of Instance groups.
I think that most of the good warriors put 5 pts into the Tactical Mastery talent. It lets you keep some rage when you switch stances, which is good since useful warrior abilities are scattered between the 3 stances. If you are fighting a caster, you should try and interrupt their spells which means you need to be in Defensive Stance with a shield out, or Bezerker stance. If the caster dodges, with Tac Mastery, you can switch to Battle stance and instantly use Overpower which, with talents, gives it a 50%+ crit chance which would mean a caster's doom. Otherwise when you switch stances, you have to build rage. A common trick I'll do against Palys/Warriors is charge from Battle stance, build up 5 more rage, then switch to defensive stance for Disarm.
I find myself to be pretty effective in PVP, though generally warriors aren't very good at PVP. Mages/Druids tend to kick my ass every time, if they use their roots. I'm just standing there praying that it will break early while I get blasted with fireballs for 1400 damage or have moonfire spammed all over me. Paladins are really tough too because of their shield/heals. They don't do much damage at all but they can usually outlast you unless I use bandages or potions while they are shielded up. But I hate wasting potions and bandages for PVP. I hate Paladins.. I always feel like I've killed them 3x before they die. Most times I only last through 2 of his 3 lives.
That being said Rogues don't cause me any problems whatsoever, neither do hunters usually. Rogues are a class a lot of people like to bitch about, especially casters.
There are a few bugs in a couple of warrior abilities that are going to be fixed. Missing Execute burns all your rage anyways.. Intercept bug was fixed in the last patch. Thunderclap is going to get some love too... etc. I think in a couple months Warriors will be more effective, especially in PVP.

yes, in a few months, after relentless bitching, warrios may become good at pvp
at lvl 58, rogues really aren't too much of a problem for me...a fast 2h wpn will take them down pretty well
any class that snare/slow/fear will do very well against a warrior...a mage just has to frost nova and ice bolt a warrior then kite him to death....a hunter can do similar but he doesn't do as much dmg as a mage and the warrior may catch up and get a hamstring off. Paladins spell doom for warriors. There is a video floating on the internet of a lvl 60 warrior with all the best gear that cannot kill an unarmed paladin. The paladin wore all the normal gear minus his sword/shield and was able to fist the warrior to death. And no, the gear does not fully make the warrior, a smart player also helps, but with intercept costing so much rage, you can't really use it unless you've done a significant amount of damage and have points invested into tactical mastery (which should be a skill you buy, not put points into) and are able to switch stances all the time. Running around frantically does help a warrior somewhat, if they can get behind the attacker right before an attack, they wont be able to cast since "target is not infront of you" But that's really circumstantial. If you've got to also change all your stances to get different moves on, you almost need both hands on the keyboard, which leaves you standing still getting beat like the warrior you're meant to be. Another plus about warrior vs rogues is overpower...if a rogue dodges my attack, he'd better brace for an attack that has a 50% chance to crit and cannot be block/parried/dodged. Good thing warriors miss rates are bugged and it has a 50% chance to miss. Execute should be the same way. It spends all your rage regardless of if it hits or not but it still can be dodged/blocked/parried/missed. If one of those does happen and the execute does not land, the rage should still be there, maybe take a small penalty similar to the effect of a missed sunder/heroic strike/mortal strike. If blizzard were to fix the miss rates, make rage regenerate significantly faster while in combat, and make your best skills not be on 30min timers and only last for 15-30 seconds....warriors wouldn't bitch as much 2/7/2005 1:34:33 AM |

Problem is, Blizzard wanted to make warrior the most "interactive" class in the game, meaning we have to press more combination of keys to achieve the same effect other classes can achieve. Like rogue has kick to interrupt, for me using a 2h weap in battlestance I either have to switch to berzerker stance and lose any rage i have over 25 to pummel or equip a shield.
Having our moves spread between 3 stances is a horrible idea, if Blizzard wanted to make warriors this tedious to play they could of offered a better macro system. Macros don't excute the lines you input sequentially, rather it tries to execute all lines simultaneously. Meaning I can't use macro for switching stances + intercept, or switch stances + pummel. If they offered better macro support warriors would be easier to play and perform better in pvp. 2/7/2005 1:47:48 AM |

you cannot even try to compare mana to rage
rage is only generated by doing dmg/taking dmg/or hurting yourself for 15% of your life. We always have a maximum of 100 rage and 95% of the time have 0. We can only use our execute skill when the target has 20% or less life and we also need a minimum of 15rage, which is 2 or 3 swings at my lvl. Our rage fades away when not in combat, which again, is 95% of the time. So we've got 1 shot to spend all of our hard earned rage when you've already got little or no life left. The move should be called "Pity shot" because if you allow a warrior to bring you down to below 20% life your ass should be dead anyways and account deleted2/7/2005 2:16:36 AM |

that's the same problem some druids have
some people out there like to be different and turn these support classes into fighting classes and people don't let them play the way the char was intended. A feral druid that uses his/her bear form correctly will do more damage, have more life, and have more armor than a warrior of the same level. Basically the same skills as a warrior are also given to the dire bear. I.e. Taunt, Charge, Demoralizing shout....People just don't like to have druids/priests/shaman on their teams that do nothing but fight, but instead want healers to be their bitches. However in the higher lvl instances, the healing power of a holy priest will be needed. Prayer of Fortitude is another very cool skill. You're going to need to have access to very powerful and mana efficient heals since your main tanks will have 4500+ life and most 55+ elite shit, esp elementals, hit you for 300+, the extra healing will be needed. The best 5 man group I've had for BRD was: 57 Shaman, 57 Holy Priest, 58 Warrior, 60 Rogue, 60 Warlock. We did the entire instance (to the emporer) with only wiping once to the Lyceum after our Warlock ran out of mana .
McDanger, all you've managed to do is claim to have 2 good warriors in your guild of ?? and repeatedly call me an idiot. I've given plenty of rants of what a warrior is as well as the problems and finer points are of being a warrior. Now either prove me wrong or keep wondering why nobody on WoW seems to ask, ubrs group forming, we need a hunter 2/7/2005 8:26:14 AM |

Plus using beserker stance as soon as i rend my target i can go immune to fear and other knock down effects and do as much damage as i can. Only problem I have is the miss rate. Of course it helps to have 4800+ armor and 3100+ hp 2/7/2005 8:34:31 AM |

I have killed warriors 5 levels higher than me without being touched.
Pally's are healing warriors, and I've killed pally's 4 levels higher than me.
It is all about timing. A pally throws up a divine shield after my pyroblast, and begins to heal himself, I count 2 seconds and start casting fireball... and soon as my fireball releases, his shield drops.... then fireball, fireblast, (stun) or (counterspell), blink, nova, cone, fireblast (stun) or (counterspell), Arcane Missles, the end.
Most pally's think divine shield makes them jesus, but I'm lucifer.
Can't touch a 20F/31A Mage spec. My ass has only been handed to me by higher level mages. I can blink out of most any situation with ease. I was trailed by 2 ??? alliance yesterday ON MOUNTS, and I out-manuvuered, managed to draw mob aggro onto them, and out blinked them and waved at them the whole way.

again im sure warriors have their probs but i CAN compare rage to mana. sure you have to work for it, but guess what...you still have an assload of hp and do decent dmg melee. if a caster runs outa mana, they have limited ways to get it back, most of which are not great.
i understand your point about the miss rate, but you cant complain cuz ur warrior cant do a lot of super dmging moves off the bat...thats why ur a warrior. casters pay for that ability with crappy ac and hp, thats how any mmo (or most games) work... ur supposed to take it. 2/7/2005 11:08:41 AM |

As casters, we can increase the size of our mana pool right from the beginning, so that going into battle we have more mana and don't run out. We also start the battle being able to drop incredible amounts of damage with no problem whatsoever.
Warriors don't have that option.

I duel constantly, and I can safely say that warriors are the worst class in PvP.
However, high level "Rage" potions would fix this problem... kinda. I think Blizz should add a roar that produces instant rage, or something, b/c you cannot expect every warrior to be an alchemist.
I think the warrior class is deficient b/c of poor Rage production and low DPS, because I have seen Pally's produce the same DPS as warriors, PLUS they can heal and Divine Shield.
If the next patch was designed to level the playing field, Blizzard should nerf pally's, buff warriors, nerf WOTF, nerf shammies, and do something to mages, b/c we fucking rock everyone. LEAVE ROGUES ALONE! I'm tired of people bitching about them. I have NO problem with rogues.

Take a person of any skill level, if I had to fight them and had a choice of what class they played it would be warrior every time. You are a level 40 warlock, please don’t bother preaching a sermon on high end content when you know nothing besides what your friends feed you on guild chat. Nobody (except a warrior lol) is going to go out of their way to tell you how badly they suck. You honestly just don’t have any kind of grasp on the power a fire spec mage has at 50+ . if you feel that a 1v1 fight where there will be no outside interference, as in no help from others and no mobs chasing you through the zone isn’t an adequate way in which to judge how a class fairs against another I don’t think there is much i can say. not only does it not make sense why a duel is a worthless measure of performance, its just plain stupid. im still waiting for these videos, i can teach you how to use fraps and movie maker over aim. i want evidence and not your opinion about how you stumbled across someone while they were leveling. For fucks sake even a support class priest can win in duels. i don’t know where you get off thinking group battles are the only way to judge effectiveness. yes it is one way in which to measure effectiveness but saying it is the only way is absurd and naive.
again, I’m waiting for some proof , and I’m more than willing to say I’m wrong when proven so in an adequate and professional form.
