haha, '97 and the Mets. Great mess up by Morgan.
I was hoping you guys could continue to blow as much dick as the Mets have the past 10 days but it looks like it'll be a 2.5 game lead after tonight. Still, as HORRID as the Mets have played with the injuries the Braves have played just as badly and are just as injured.
It's a good thing the Phillies are still the Phillies (in other words sweep good teams and lose 2 of 3 to the Royals). 6/10/2007 11:11:47 PM |

^ The NL as a whole sucks ass now. The AL is killing again in interleague so I guess with everyone losing, it makes no difference in the standings. The Braves are about to start their horrid June stretch which will determine if they can truly stay in the East and Wild Card race. 6/11/2007 6:07:05 PM |

so here is what i would like to see. willie harris play almost everyday in left (better defender than diaz and does diaz really bring that much more at the plate? no). hit leadoff where we could actually, gasp, get some speed on the bases at the top of the order. hit Kelly 2nd edgar 3rd, chipper 4th, andruw 5th (or 10th)...... i just have a hard time seeing harris and diaz split time when diaz really doesnt do much for me at all. 6/12/2007 9:23:01 AM |
Senez All American 8112 Posts user info edit post |
I agree with you in that Harris should play more. I think one of Bobby's main faults (aside from being too loyal to veterans) is he plays the averages too much in terms of lefty/lefty. I can't really argue with someone who's been around as long as he has, but it burns me up to see him bring someone like pete orr or chris woodward in just for the sake of the matchup. I don't think Diaz kills us, however, because he does play decently in the outfield and can hit decently. I think if Willie played EVERY single day, then he certainly wouldn't hit as well as he has. But I think you absolutely MUST play him right now given how well he is hitting. And w/ how funked the offense has become. 6/12/2007 9:42:48 AM |

Playing the Cubs and Marlins does not constitute a horrid schedule. Now playing @Twins, @Indians, Red Sox, and then the Tigers does constitute a horrid schedule in the middle of June.6/12/2007 10:34:02 AM |
TheOffice Suspended 2343 Posts user info edit post |
Ah, by horrid June stretch I thought you just meant like last year when we pretty much lost every single game that was played in the month of June. I didnt know you were referring to the schedule. 6/12/2007 12:02:32 PM |
NyM410 J-E-T-S 50085 Posts user info edit post |
Last year at this time you guys were in your stretch and the Mets were going 9-1. This year your in your stretch and the Mets are going 2-8. The Phillies are playing the best ball in the division right now and even they lost a series to the Royals. 6/12/2007 12:45:21 PM |

The Phils are slowly sneaking back into this race. Only 4 games out and only 2 back of the Braves. With the way the Braves and Mets are playing, they'd better take advantage of this opportunity. I still hope that Brett Myers dies in a fire and that Jimmy Rollins dies trying to save him. 6/12/2007 5:51:54 PM |

Whats amazing is he hit it on the 8th pitch of the at-bat.....which is crazy for frenchy

well i'm comforted knowing the phillies probably won't ever win the division as long as the braves and mets are in the same division. i don't like the mets, but i DESPISE philly and their asshole fans 6/12/2007 11:58:12 PM |

saw an article on the braves website yesterday speculating that they might try trading Escobar and/or Saltalamachia for a starter. Not sure how i feel about that...but we sure as hell need to sign some great pitchers.

right now, i think i'd be okay letting go of salty, given the current way our team is heading. chipper is getting older at 3rd, while mccann is still young. I know moving salty to first is an option, but given the lesser of the two evils, I think keeping Escobar and losing salty is probably less painful. especially if it gets us a nice starter. 6/14/2007 8:46:38 AM |
rflong All American 11472 Posts user info edit post |
The Braves aren't going to win shit this year regardless if they add another starter. We couldn't even score one damn run on Carlos Silva last night.
I hope they don't trade Escobar or Salt because if they do it'll just be another shit hole deal like the one last year where we gave away Betemit to the Dodgers for trash.
If the Braves are going to trade someone, they should trade Andruw for a young arm. Let the young guys develop so that in a year or two we'll be able to keep up with the powerful lineups that the Mets and Phils have. 6/14/2007 9:21:20 AM |
alabaster1 All American 575 Posts user info edit post |
I'd rather move Salt to 1st and get rid of Thorman. We need Salt's bat in the line-up. I think we should keep Escobar and groom him as either Chipper's replacement and/or switch him out with Johnson in the middle infield.
As much as I hate to say it, I think I'd rather see the braves trade Andruw rather than getting rid of 2 great prospects like Salt or Escobar. Andruw's salary expectations are too high, he's not getting any younger, and his bat has been quiet. 6/14/2007 9:48:05 AM |
Hoggman187 All American 960 Posts user info edit post |
im pretty sure andruw has said he would block any trade that he was involved in. basically andruw is goign to walk away at the end of the year and we will get nothing for him. 6/14/2007 10:19:38 AM |

wickmania is over, soriano needs to close 6/15/2007 5:51:10 AM |
Senez All American 8112 Posts user info edit post |
I do NOT blame that on wickman. He did what he was supposed to do. Two groundballs, both misplayed by young infielders. Salty should have had that ball and dunno what escobar was thinking on that throw. Not wicks fault. 6/15/2007 8:56:34 AM |
Ernie All American 45943 Posts user info edit post |
it really doesn't have that much to do with last night
in seven more innings pitched, soriano has struck out 12 more and walked 5 fewer batters than wickman -- he has also given 11 fewer hits
i love big bob but it's obvious that soriano is the better option at the end of the game 6/15/2007 9:28:28 AM |
Senez All American 8112 Posts user info edit post |
oh, well, if you're arguing for soriano closing, i'm all for that. lord knows the closing of games when wick was out was just phenomenal. i'm not sure how many nailbiters there were.
i just felt like last night the game was lost with the corners at the end. escobar's play was the toughest and it looked like salty just kinda choked that one. both were plays that could be made.
but most def. soriano > wickman in the end 6/15/2007 9:46:41 AM |
rflong All American 11472 Posts user info edit post |
Wickman did give up a single and then a triple too before the boots by Salt and Escobar. He was not "on" last night. Also the official scorer gave Morneau a hit on the ball that Salt booted and Hunter's ball to Escobar was a fielders choice so in the box score it looks like Wickman got lit up.
I agree that I think Soriano should close, but Bobby will not do that unless Wickman really fucks up multiple times in a row. I wonder why Bobby didn't put Thorman in to play 1B in the 9th. That lack of a move probably cost the Braves the game. 6/15/2007 12:08:36 PM |
