Sure, it sounds like a bait and switch, but it's at least a plausible one.

if they sell the 2017 models at that kind of discount, including the 65, then bait and switch me.

from the seller you listed? I'd buy any 65" oled for <2000
having said that, after seeing the new sony that uses the lg panel, i think that'll be my next tv

No, actually. When I called back and spoke to Al, I asked whether they had the 65" in stock. He actually tried to talk me out of it, saying the difference in price wasn't worth it.

In the end, I ordered from a seller called Electronics Expo through Amazon. Paid what I would've paid at Best Buy, but it made sense to do it with the free shipping, scheduled delivery, and the points I got on my Amazon card.

Costco has the new 55" TCL 55C803 on sale for $450 through 1/21. Selling for $700 on Amazon (listed as 55C807 on Amazon).

4K, HDR, Dolby Vision, Built-in Roku. Doesn't have local dimming like the P Series but is still supposed to be very good, especially for the price.

Not a bad tv for that price at all, but still a mediocre TV overall

On the hunt for something in the 40-43" range. Was hoping to find something in the $400s these days for that size, but I'm not finding consistently decent reviews until closer to 6 (something like the X800 series from Sony).

Anyone have any recommendations?

PS Sold both the nicer TVs during the move to Dallas a couple years ago since it was a downsize from a house to a little urban apartment. The only TV that was kept was a free 32" 720p from 2009 Two years later, finally getting around to upgrading.

We only turn on the TV maybe 2-3 times a week max for netflix/hbo/playstation, but id still rather get something decent since it will be several years before I consider another one.

you have OLED and quality full array dimming that are pretty much 55+" and then substantially lower quality stuff we'll call mid grade, and then a lot of trash. vizio p-series is about the cheapest I'd go, but if you don't want to upgrade for a long time, I'd go with lg oled 55. they can be had around 1299 these days. projectors are also cheap for a 1080 unit and as sparingly as you use it, would be good for the use case. you can also "put it away" if your spot is really small

thanks. I have considered projectors and perhaps I will look into them more. The space is very open and rather large for a studio; however, the area where the TV lives and the way the space is arranged, a 55" would just be too much. I was hoping to keep it less than 46. 42-43 is ideal for us here.

But you're exactly right. This is the issue I've run into - the smaller TVs just are not at the quality I was expecting.

42" is not big enough to need to be the highest quality imo

Scroll down to the 2nd section here, there’s an applet where you put in your parameters and it shows your best options

^^ i agree to some degree, but the 'smaller' TVs in the 40s just don't seem to be as good over all. Poorer viewing angles, colors that seem a bit washed out compared to what I would expect, etc. It may be anecdotal, but if you read consumer reviews (which should be taken with a grain of salt of course) it seems like they have a much higher rate of failure.

^ Appreciate this. I looked through that this morning. The options they listed were the ones I have looked at and have not been that happy with. However, any of them are technically a pretty large upgrade over the one I've been using the last 2 years. I just figured I'd see if anyone had any hidden gems. If nothing else that link kind of reaffirmed what my top couple choices were given my parameters.

Just picked up a 49" TCL from Costco for $290 to replace my 40" in the bedroom. Know it's not the best deal, but the 90 day return policy and 2 year warranty have value to me. Pretty impressed with the picture so far, but I'm not picky Big fan of the built-in Roku and the remote. Has every service we use, meaning I don't need Apple TVs anymore.

my bedroom tv has started randomly turning on in the middle of the night, so i guess it's time to get a new TV

what features do I need to get? I don't care about any smart features, I just want the cheapest TV that has the "must-have" features in the 65" range

(is HDMI-CEC standard now?)

Anyone else get garbage picture quality with Spectrum in Raleigh? I really notice it when watching football on ESPN. The video signal looks overcompressed.

I'm trying to choose between sony 850F 85", lg oled 77", and samsung q9f qled 82"

anyone got other tvs I should look at? price point is 2500-5000. size 75-85. 90% of my viewing is sports. room is 25ft and then it's an open layout so lots of viewing from the kitchen, another 25ft out.

x900f loses points in almost every single review when it comes to viewing angles. and I will agree with them.

I bought the TV in November and it's an amazing TV. Picture, quality, built-in apps, it's great. 4K and HDR picture is brilliant, especially through the built in GooglePlay, Netflix, and Amazon Prime apps. For some reason they just seem to perform better in 4K HDR than using my Fire TV 4K.

My TV is mounted on a non-swivel mount in the living room and if i'm watching in the kitchen (open concept, kitchen to the left of living room) it definitely loses that picture quality outside of that optimal pie viewing area.

I have last year's 850 and have been happy with it for the most part but I feel like it does not do blacks very well. I am sure the 900 does a better job but I have been looking at that LG all year and if I had to do it all over again, I would have spent more and gone with the LG.

I have a 2015 850 65" Sony. Great picture, but I FUCKING HATE Android TV. It's so bad. Bloated and slow. I wish I could use a Roku, but my 4k Denon AVR won't pass through 4k... yeah, I know, makes no sense.

I watched the Clemson/Bama game at a buddy's house who has a 75" LG oled. That's a grown ass TV!

There is a slight smoothing/soap opera effect that you can't turn off when in HDR mode. it's not nearly as bad as the regular smoothing, but is occasionally noticeable in some scenes. as someone who wants absolutely none of that, it's a bit annoying.

I picked up the 65 c8

Easily the best looking tv I’ve ever seen. I still have the regular PS4 and games feel like I’m playing on a new system, the basically zero ghosting has a big impact on reducing eye strain.

I did have to tweak the settings a bit to get things to look right, but the ISF bright setting is very good.

Really impressed with the web browser in this tv.

The motion tracking on the remote is good enough where I can easily browse Reddit without any hassle. Can even have tv playing in a little window.

Broke my TV while I was moving recently. I know I can get a new one for pretty cheap but this one was only like 2 years old so if I can save $200-300 that'd be cool. Worth repairing? It looks like something might have gotten pressed into the screen. If so, any good TV repair places?
