You know, I actually WANT that.
If my grandfather croaks before we get hitched, matt and I are eloping or something. I don't want a fucking wedding...my mom does.

It's sad, but the reason I want to graduate soon isn't so we can get engaged, but instead, so I can work, and we can buy a place down at the beach.

I'm curious as to how matt's gonna pull this off. He's not spontaneous, or very creative. I sorta think it may be 'come here...I wanna show you something online', and he'll be pretend-planning the honeymoon

[Edited on May 14, 2007 at 11:40 AM. Reason : I also don't want an engagement ring.]

I'd be surprised too if he did because I just don't expect it happening without me saying something to start the process and that's boring.

By the way I love your earrings and shoes.

Haha yeah he was such a baddie too...

We were standing on the balcony and he was saying something along the lines of proposing in the fall...

and I was pretending to pout and I turned out and then he was on one knee w/ the ring ...

It was 11:30 at night and there was a huge lightning storm w/ no rain... and it was sooo romantic... omg /sappy.

Haha thanks. I love the accessories! I love all your clothes!

See funny thing about a marriage is it consists of two people, two opinions. We both deserve to get what we want and find middle ground.

I figured that didn't need explaining.

It doesn't need explaining, I said I wasn't knocking your desires for the wedding, and there's no noeed to get bitchy.

BTW, wedding ceremony != marriage. I figured that didn't explaining

Price, elise. Some guys actually like getting a ring for their girl, a sign of subtle possessiveness, pride, blahblahblah. Ryan will be hooked on the price of anything, my help and other attributes will calm his little jew heart.

Christine, I'm sorry you automatically assume girly means expensive. In a wedding ceremony you are celebrating a marriage that consists of two people, there did that spell it out better for you? Or do I need to explain more the correlation between weddings and how they represent the unity of two people?

weddings are really only for the girl. sure its a union of two people, but its all one big parade for the woman. if you think its about two people then you're fooling yourself.

Uhm...do you think flowers, ribbons for the chapel, all the parties and dresses, and documentation of the event are cheap, or that their cost is nominal?

you said marriage. that IS about two people.
the wedding is NOT what it used to be - it's now a girly event. still standard to have, but much less of a celebration, and more of a to-do.
And I disagree with you that it's a celebration of the marriage - it's the first step in a three-part celebration of the START of the marriage.

I know that by feeling this way, and not having a Y chromosome, I'm a minority, but you can't REALLY believe that weddings
- aren't girly
- are cheap
- are synonymous with marriage itself (as opposed to a social step tOWARDS marriage)

...do you?

^Matt and I want to share the bachelor/bachelorette party

I don't want a wedding that flaunts my awesomeness around, if that's all it is then I wouldn't even want one. I want a wedding that celebrates the love the two of us have and the journey that's about to take place. Of course it's the beginning of the marriage.........I didn't say it wasn't. It will be a celebration of that fact though, a marriage.

My idea of girly is beautiful. There are ways to achieve beauty without paying out the ass.

I came home intoxicated last night and reached for some bad foods. Good thing the McDonald's was already closed, saved me from a huge mistake. Also, good thing there's no Cookout here.

Only thing we had in the house was a month old chicken patty and some toaster strudels. haha

Oops. Doing better today though. Fucking pissed my raspberries have mold on them and they're only TWO FUCKING DAYS OLD.

Oh well.

I saw a "simple, sweet, inexpensive" one the other week. It looked really crappy. Luckily mine is going to kick ass AND we got an insane deal on the venue.
