I'm sure NyM is dancing on Skip's grave, but this is really heartbreaking news. I grew up with Skip and I'm sure a lot of you guys did too.

Nah... there is still one more Caray that likes to shit on New York and the Mets every chance they get even if it has nothing to do with the game he is announcing..

I'd hate to have that much of an inferiority complex, but I guess it makes Chip feel better?

^ Inferiority to what? The Mets haven't accomplished shit in 20 years. Seriously dude, if Chip Carey is really bagging on the Mets it's probably just because he hates the Mets and he is following in Skip's footsteps. Making a gay statement like that makes me hate Mets fans a little more.

They went to the world series in 2000, and IIRC set an MLB record for best fielding percentage by a team. Not that that means anything

Oh come on, NY4MEN, that's weaksauce, even for you.

Mets fans have the biggest inferiority complex in all of American sports. They're the little sisters of the most successful and popular franchise of all time, always trying to prove that they've finally arrived, that this is the year, man.

I know right! We haven't been since way back in 1999! So jealous!

And that one division win! We only won 14 in a row! Argh!

Really, the only significant accomplishments the Mets have achieved in the past 20+ years are last year's historic chokejob and a full roster's worth of players in the Mitchell Report.

Can't wait to see your bitch ass crying when you get taken out

Holy shit God hates the Braves this year. Pretty much the only excitement I've had concerning the Braves in the past two months was their chance to knock of the ass-fuck Mess tonight and the bullpen blows another lead in the bottom of the 8th. Please take everyone in the bullpen besides Gonzalez and shoot them in the face. Please shoot Blaine Boyer twice to make sure he is dead.

Wow, you guys are just terrible... I feel bad for Larry.

How is your farm system? Is there anything worth being excited over?

p.s. - I think Cotchman will end up being a fine first baseman... but, I mean he is no Scott Thorman.

I just have to give him and jaybee my paypal account and I should be getting the $$$... Mets are 15 games ahead right now.

Honestly, I don't even have the heart to post a broom or other type picture. It's gotta be tough watching that garbage night in and night out... the Mets did everything in their power NOT to score the last two runs but the Braves were just that much worse.

The Braves are the worst team in baseball now. It is amazing what injuries can do to a ball club. I read an article in the AJC showing the Braves team stats over the past 60 or so games and it is truly sad. Also since the All Star break the Braves have the worst ERA in baseball by almost a half run - nearly a 6 ERA!

Serious question - Do the Braves need to punt next year and plan for 2010? Well, not PUNT, but just sit tight and not go overboard in this coming FA or trade market?

The FA class for 2010 looks AWESOME for outfielders and starting pitching, which is exactly what we need. I really don't see much help from the minors before then at either area.

Hell, this is a long shot, but by saving some money, maybe we can get in on the Yu Darvish derby, who is speculated to be posted in 2 years time.

this may be true, but just consider, with a little more luck in those 1-run losses, even if we split 1-run games 50/50, we'd still be in the mix right now. that would be a difference of 9 or 10 wins (right now we're 6-25 in 1-run games). granted, recently we're like 1 for our last 10, but still. everything has just conspired against us this year, I don't think anyone would argue against that.

^ Can't argue there - the Braves have had a NC State-like curse on them this season. I would rather see the Braves suck shit in '09 and continue loading up on draft picks and then only play the FA market for young and upcoming players. The Braves need to just forget about going after guys who are 30+ and just focus on building around McCann, Jurrjens, Escobar, and I guess Kotchman (still not sold on him and pissed that we wasted Harrison in the Tex trade).

Kotsay has been traded.....no word on which team yet.....the Phillies and Red Sox were interested.

If I had to guess I would say to the Red Sox, especially, with Drew now on the DL

Link from ESPN saying Red Sox were on the verge.

Supposedly it is the Red Sox. I am sure all we got was a garbage minor leaguer. I hope Kotsay can help the Red Sox keep the Yankees out of the playoffs.

Also last night's game was easily the best Braves game I have seen all season. Yeah the Braves pitching was horrible and Hanley Ramirez gave them the win at the end, but at least they finally came back and won something. They at least look like they were trying.

Kotsay to the Red Sox (he waived his limited No-Trade clause for $325,000) for a mid-level prospect who is not yet known.

meh. not too bad i guess. i get this feeling that this guy could be the next albert pujols, or he's never gonna be heard from again.

he's putting up good numbers in high class A, so it's probably better than the compensation we'd get by kotsay leaving, if any. (would he even be a Type B FA?)
