Just keep a dumbbell next to your desk.

For every post on TWW, do 5 shoulder presses on each arm.

I did a legs, shoulders, and trapezius grouping today... leg presses, squats, vertical shoulder benching, and shrugs. I'm going on a half mile swim tomorrow morning at 4, then working on a abs, bicep, and forearm grouping tomorrow. I'll post a picture at the end of this week's hardcore workouts with my friend, definitely expecting to see a difference.

you guys are doing great. i am not actually in this but i am riding my bike at least 100 miles a week and stopped eating out for lunch. after 1 week of lunch packing and riding i can already feel the difference. i am only weighing in once ever 2 weeks so i will know where i am next week.

so i found this on a bodybuilding.com thread and thought i'd share.

Quote :
"
* Cardio + caloric deficit = lose fat and lose muscle, get fitter, become "skinny-fat"
* Weight training + caloric deficit = lose fat and retain muscle, get stronger but then plateau,
become buff
* Cardio + caloric surplus = gain fat, retain muscle, get fitter
* Weight training + caloric surplus = gain fat and gain muscle

Thus, people who just want to look buff will tend to have bulking (weights + surplus) and cutting (weights plus deficit) cycles. If the person has other aims such as sports performance or health, they'll do other stuff. For example, heaps of cardio is useful if you want to be a marathon runner. If you just want a smaller bum and not to have spaghetti arms, it's not so useful.

No training can make up for poor nutrition. A typical cardio session will burn 200-300kcal, if you really smash yourself you might do 500kcal. Large fries from McDs are 500kcal. In the energy in vs energy out balance, it's a lot, lot, lot easier to manage the energy in than the energy out, a lot easier not to eat the fries than to do an hour or two of cardio. And if you're not getting vitamins and minerals you just won't be able to push yourself in the gym.

So think of it this way: strength and fitness are built in the gym, size at the dinner table. Your overall body size is determined by your energy in vs energy out, but your exercise determines your body composition - how much is fat, how much muscle, do you become 130lbs of dancer-like physique, or 130lbs of marshmallow squish. Lift no weights, your body has no reason to keep muscle.
"

so today was hard. i had plans with a coworker to have sushi for lunch, then we found out that lunch had been ordered for our noon meeting...crap

it ended up being panera and i had a choice between roast beef & sierra turkey. well, sierra used to be my fav panera sandwich until i found out it has over 800 calories.. so i was a little nervous (considering that half my daily calorie allowance). so i got on paneras website and they not only have the nutritional info but they have it broken down by sandwich. i learned that if i ditched the bread & the chipotle sauce on it (plus red onions, which i dont like anyway) i got my sandwich down to 140 calories!!!!

i also avoided the cookie & chips that came with my lunch.

whew, lunch is done. but i have that little cupcake bday thing happening later for a friend. so i got on fitday and figured all my calories. i figured that i could do the cupcake thanks to my calorie slashing at lunch.

so i ended the day at just under 1500 calories. this is 100 less than i need daily.. which is ok for today since i overate 200 yesterday. at least now its not SO bad.

here is my breakdown for today.. with my activity level & workout i met my goal of 500 calorie deficit to lose weight

^ Try increasing the weight and lowering the reps, Max-OT style... He claims you can gain muscle this way even on a calorie restricted diet.

I always like to get a $5 foot long from Subway, toss half the bread and put all the meat, lettuce, etc on a six-inch roll. Keeps the sandwich under 500 calories and you get all the meat that you'd have on a foot long.

For the record, I don't get cheese or any of the fatty/high calorie condiments.

^^ bc the fact that the bread & sauce made up that many calories really disturbed me

plus i knew i was having a cupcake later so i was trying to calorie slash.

started today off great with a veggie omlette with a slice of bread.. 300 cals..hellz yeah! it was delicious too

going to try to get a run bike & swim in today at the gym in prep for my tri. really need to practice bricking (bike to run)

not possible...strength gains via CNS adaptation, okay...but muscle gain in a caloric deficit...doubtful

I went to the gym a couple hours after swimming a half mile on 4 hours of sleep... it was a fight simply trying to stay awake on the 20 min. drive home. My friend and I superset our bicep workouts and then did some ab workouts on top of that; I felt like I was gonna puke, so I stopped by the grocery store and ate an entire loaf of wheat artisan bread. I'm not sure if it was the creatine, caffeine, sleep deprivation, or the shake I had an hour before I worked out that made me feel so sick... I'm gonna get some protein and nap now, then hopefully I'll be rested enough for a game of pick-up soccer.

Did a nice 16 mile ride today. The pair of $100 shorts I bought a couple of days ago make a HUUUUUGE difference. I can feel the difference between these and the $60 pairs I usually wear.

I stopped running for five days and just did lots of weights and walking. My jeans felt looser today! Woo hoo! And my tummy looks a little nicer ... though it could be just basic female weight fluctuations.

Then tonight I did P90X and jogged 3 slow miles. 1000 calories consumed thus far today. Now it's time to eat some ahi tuna and get plenty of rest. Maybe pics and weigh-in tomorrow if I can stand to face the camera and the scale.

Great job on everyone's progress thus far!

ive come to a plateu i think.

sooooo i didnt do well for a few weeks ago diet-wise and i've been on point lately.....

and although i haven't really fluctuated in weight... i don't feel very lean :-/
i'm hoping it's just water retention....

however according to the fit meter thing at lifestyle i'm steadily gaining bodyfat :-/
so far only .3%, and i know that's not a lot and the machine isn't entirely accurate but a gain is a gain.

le sigh.

it's stupid of me to think about this now (i know that results don;t happen overnight ) but its still a bit frustrating.

haha

and just to rub it in..I've been eating about 3200 calories a day...just going about my business and occasional weight lifting, cardio, basketball and golf.

I dunno how i did it...and last week was BADDDDD...it was my bday week along with my buddies and we went out 3 times. I dunno how Ive done it... and im sure Ive hit a peak but hopefully it was all water weight and such.

im officially down 1lb, prob will be down another lb by the end of the week

took my measurements again and they're slightly smaller... my neck is half an inch smaller im thinking when my mom helped me do my measurements there may have been some error because i just dont think thats possible in 10 days...

so i have a new "baseline" for my measurements as of today. we'll see how the body fat looks in a couple of days

been sticking hard to that insanity meal plan! day 4 and im feeling good (day 10 of insanity)

so today started off fantastic.

and then turned to complete and total shit in an hour.

after crying my eyes out to cody for a while i decided i would go to the gym and take strike (and beat the shit out of some bags)
(annnnd....while i was there i met Samwise16!)

it worked a little but now im back home and i don't have the desire to eat. at all.

my caloric intake for the day is at 700
im gonna try and eat something before i go to bed.

fuck this.
