If that were the case, why would Dick Baddour hire a bigtime$ NCAA law consultant? Maybe he will try to help UNC make a case that there isnt enough of the right kind of evidence to prove anything, but he has no place in there if the evidence is fabricated to begin with...

^2 honestly I believe that UNC hired a lawyer because they realized that this would not be resolved by the start of the season. UNC wants to play this season so they hired a lawyer. With his experience and knowledge he can help UNC do what they can to still play without having to take away their wins at the end of the season. If they sit Little and Austin they have lawyer verification that they are okay.

Most people look at hiring a lawyer as a way to make them look legit. However I see it as them hiring a professional to try to cut as many corners as possible to squeeze as much out of this situation as possible. In there case I think that it was the right thing for them to do.

put together a ~4:30 minute video of this ncaa saga that is going to be put up on stafefansnation.com hopefully by tommorow. It is quite good and you will all have the lulz.

no mention of the ongoing unc stuff in the espn article. this is probably fair though as it really doesn't have anything to do with the trade.

whats hilarious is that somehow this particular story doesn't seem to have any censoring filters in the comments section

It's a highly dubious assumption that the vast majority of prospects are of such impeccable moral character that they wouldn't consider going to a school under investigation for improper benefits.

to my knowledge none of the recruits that have committed to them in the last month or so have signed their LOIs

so if/when shit does hit the fan, they aren't under obligation to their verbal commitment...especially if UNC loses scholarships...sounds like a perfect excuse to back out

they'd need to be hit with a scholarship reduction or a more than 1 year post-season ban to affect any of their current guys. if blake gets fired or there is a coaching shake-up, that's a whole different ballgame.

Yeah, that video is terrible. SFN promoting it is like NCSU promoting that lame sad-wolf-eyes logo.

Quote :
"The old farts of the SFN author team love this kind of creativity and use of multi-media…we just don’t have any of this talent or skills to put it together."

fair enough, but neither does whoever made that video

Brandon Willis (4 star DT and prep all-american) has left UNC to move to California with his father, another blow to the Heels' 2010 class.

^^I love UNC losing good players, but I feel really bad for that kid.

Quote :
"“It’s a sad situation because, maybe for those of you that didn’t know, Brandon lost his mother," Davis told reporters following practice. "She passed away recently – less than a year ago – and they’ve gone through some family hardships and some family difficulties… His father has been looking for employment and was informed yesterday that he was able to find a job. The article on ACCNow said that Davis hadn't decide whether to release him or not, which is fucked up given the kid's situation

Check out the thread of IC. The posters there are vicious. I've only seen a few post about sympathies for his situations. Every other post is about some conspiracy theory that Kiffin got the dad a job ... and they call us the lunatic fringe.

Depends on where the kid ends up. If he ends up at USC, then its kinda fucked up. If he ends up somewhere like UCLA, then no harm no foul

"The NCAA is investigating whether agents, financial advisers or runners paid for multiple trips elite student athletes made to South Florida this spring, including to a birthday pool party that 49ers RB Frank Gore held at his home in May. ESPN.com reported that Alabama officials were investigating whether DT Marcell Dareus broke NCAA rules by attending an agent's party in South Beach. North Carolina DT Marvin Austin and South Carolina TE Weslye Saunders were interviewed about attending the same party, ESPN.com reported.

Sources told SportsBusiness Journal there were multiple trips to South Florida by college players, including a May 15 trip in which multiple college football players attended Gore's pool party during the day and a party later that Saturday night at South Beach nightclub Cameo. Gore in a telephone interview said that he had the party at his house and partied later that night at the club, adding that he did not see whether those players were there but could not say for certain that they were not.

"I don't even know those guys. There were a lot of people there; it was crazy," Gore said. He added that no agent or financial adviser, or other person involved in the athlete representation business paid for his party. "I paid for my own party," Gore said.

There was a photo purportedly of Austin and North Carolina WR Greg Little posted on Twitter dated May 15 at a pool party. SportsBusiness Journal texted the photo to Gore, but he did not respond to a question of whether that was his pool. Austin also tweeted on May 29 that he was at a Miami nightspot, and sources said that was another trip the NCAA was investigating. Austin has recently suspended his Twitter account.

Multiple sources said NCAA officials were also looking into whether college athletes stayed or partied at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach. Officials at Cameo and the Fontainebleau did not return phone calls.

The parties are just one of the things NCAA investigators are probing. They are also looking into allegations of agents, financial advisors, or runners who act as middle men providing an array of gifts to multiple college athletes at at least five FBS college football programs, sources said.

Additionally, NCAA officials are said to be investigating whether former Florida OT Maurkice Pouncey, who was taken in the first round of the '10 NFL Draft by the Steelers, accepted $100,000 from an agent or agent's representative prior to the '10 Sugar Bowl. One source said the Pouncey investigation was spurred by an anonymous letter postmarked from Canada. Pouncey yesterday denied he took money from an agent."

ah yes, the "it was crazy" night. We've all had those.

I guess I assumed both of these pics were taken at the same place, but I guess its possible the first was taken at Gore's house (assuming he has a cop doing security at his house?), and the 2nd one is at a hotel or resort

although actually these were taken about 2 weeks apart..........
