I picked up the 32gb in September for $150. I still haven't installed android on it. In the early release I read about the issues such as the sleep of death etc. I know several updates have been issued since then. Would it be worth it to try installing it now or should I still wait. I bought the touchpad for my 6 year old son so I'm not really in too much of a hurry to change anything. I would love access to better games though.

Quote : | "Attention TouchPad owners: an update to webOS 3.x is now available for your favorite webOS tablet. webOS 3.0.5 is now available over-the-air for the TouchPad, bringing faster view switching in calendar, IM presence indicators in Email, support for HTTP video streaming, an easy on/off toggle for auto-correct, and the ability to insert a period when double-tapping the space bar. There are a number of other bug fixes in webOS 3.0.5, including better MP3 handling, the ability to view contacts for video calls, and faster scrolling in Email. All in all, we're looking at more small incremental improvements that make betterer the experience of webOS on the TouchPad. Nothing mind blowing, but we'll take what we can get." |

anybody else having issues installing the update OTA? since I have Cyanagenmod installed, when the WebOS upgrade install begins and the device restarts, it goes to teh Clockwork boot menu, if I select WebOS it says the install fails, if I let it boot into Droid, then reboot, it fails also
any ideas? 1/12/2012 6:07:57 PM |

anybody know what firewall ports WebOS uses for normal internet access? have a firewall with all ports blocked by default, with the necessary ports open for HTTP, remote access, etc
figure i need to create a rule to manually open the ports but don't know which ports 1/17/2012 9:55:52 AM |

couldnt get internet access through that firewall on the CyanogenMod end either, even though my Android phone had internet access, so I dunno
it was funny doing a little research on it though, came across some thread where somebody was complaining about not having internet access once he left the house on his touchpad (didn't understand tethering), so he says he's gonna buy all this other hardware just for the sole purpose of tethering...guess you had to be there :\ 1/17/2012 1:20:05 PM |

I definitely prefer WebOS. If it supported Netflix (and had a much larger app store) I'd be on WebOS 99% of the time. 1/28/2012 6:16:46 PM |

It still feels like a late-stage beta OS though (probably because it is).
I hope the open-source community can advance it, without crapping it up. 1/29/2012 1:54:57 PM |

I'm completely wiping android off my device so I can install the WebOS upgrade and resolve a couple other minor issues
once I get WebOS updated, should I install the CM7 3.5 Alpha or try the CM9 alpha? I'm more about function than a fancy Android OS so I'm leaning towards the 3.5 2/7/2012 9:45:23 AM |

uninstalled android, webos still wouldnt update, so i webos doctored it...just got all my preware patches reinstalled since hp's backup doesnt restore those
i noticed touchplayer wasnt available in preware anymore but here's a workaround since kalemsoft player sucks...dont thank me, thank Saint Germain
1) Deinstall Touchplayer 2) Luna restart (or reboot your Touchpad) 3) Open preware and select the top left menu 4) Select "Manage Feeds" 5) Go all the way down and enter the address "mobilecoder.touchpadhp.info/mcfeed" AND deselect the "is compressed". Click on "Add feed" 6) in the preware top left menu, select "Update feeds" 7) Find Touchplayer and install it 8) Luna restart (or reboot your Touchpad)] 2/7/2012 3:43:39 PM |

going to try and put cm9 .6 on mine. hope i don't do it wrong. always feel like i'm one step from bricking my touchpad 2/7/2012 3:52:51 PM |

i just copied the zip files for 0.6 onto the touchpad and copied the new ACMEInstaller2 to my Palm directory, getting ready to novacom it up
if you brick it, worst case is probably 30 minutes of WebOS Doctor
I uninstalled CM7 before doing all this stuff but it still left some android specific folders and data files, so I'm interested to see if stuff gets overwritten, duplicated, or left alone
new splash screen is sweet

i like it myself at least as far as the ICS interface (which i havent used before) and the responsiveness, seems pretty quick
just installed the Google Market zip so I can start downloading apps
ah shit, installed the CM7 market zip, stuck in an endless cycle of the installation failing and starting back up, time to boot into webos and install the remove android patch in preware

when my screen turns off, the bass turns into distortion if Pandora is playing (while in the ICS)
but it works fine in WebOS' Pandora, obviously 2/7/2012 6:03:47 PM |

i know most of yall upgraded from CM7 to CM9 with a zip file, but I'm having trouble finding a Google Market file compatible with CM9...found a link online but it was hosted on a filesharing site that had been shutdown...tried reinstalling CM7 with intentions of zip upgrading, but for some reason couldnt get it to connect to my wifi
