I was at the "TA was in" game and I don't even think it was on TV because both teams were supposedly so bad

so bad that a NORTH CAROLINA vs. NORTH CAROLINA STATE game wasn't on tv in NORTH CAROLINA

yep I believe the "TA was in" game was only televised on some obscure channel or something. It wasn't on regular cable. I remember there being no good camera angles of the TA play because it was not televised on some shitty feed. I was at the game

First off, this isn't an alias, unless you count any 2nd name as an alias. I've been a member since 2002, but I forgot my password and the account was registered to my NCSU.edu address, so I couldn't get a new password. I last posted under the old name, Luigi, back in 2006(?) or so. Thus, new user name.

Secondly, it's a legit question because simply saying you're a champion and not backing it up can't look good to a recruit that could go to, say, an SEC school or Clemson, VT, etc. It's a clown move. You want traditions? Rebrand it something school-specific and make it bigger. Get rid of the name people may laugh at.

If you were DD, would you, at this point, consider playing a younger QB more? I can see using Mitchell back when we had a shot at 8 wins, but if we get to 0-4 in the ACC, and the best we can likely do is 6-6, do you start practicing the future QB to prepare for next year?

QBs of our future are Brissett who is out for transfer rules & Jalan McClendon who will be a True Freshman next year. Ideally McClendon will redshirt next year.

No you play to win and hopefully get a bowl so that you get the extra 15 or whatever practices. Tanking in the NCAAs to get freshmen PT is a poor strategy that will impact recruiting too.

I don't think the staff views Sheriffs as the qb of the future. He was moved to LB and FB prior to Mitchell's injury. That tells me the staff doesn't see him as a viable option at qb going forward. If the staff believes a qb that is at least similar in style to Mitchell is the future, wouldn't it be beneficial for the OL, WRs, RBs to get some game experience in that style offense?

I wouldn't be so sure about that at this point. We have no idea how well Mitchell is going to perform in games. No idea. And I don't think there are any plans to make Sheriffs our regular QB. How many passes has he actually thrown? As was mentioned, he's probably only getting snaps because Mitchell is down. And if Brissett is named our starter next year, Thomas will probably be an injury away from being the starter again.

^^ We have some idea. He looked more than capable throwing the ball vs La Tech and he has good enough feet to keep a defense honest if it breaks down.

Also, McLendon could get the starting job if Brisket went down (heaven forbid) next year. He fits the offense much better than Thomas ever will.

^ Agreed. Mobility discussion aside, in videos of Mitchell from Arkansas and the first few plays he had this year, he has a much better arm / throwing motion than Pete Thomas. I look forward to seeing what he can do this weekend, I just hope he doesn't get killed.

Before this season I remember reading multiple times that he [Stocker] was looking good in practice. He was said to be big and tough, with a strong arm and a good scrambler.... what are you basing your assesment of him not being able to play at the next level?

Nope. In fact, I'm pretty sure Mitchell is the better quarterback and will perform better than Thomas. But it's just stupid to say that you are 1000000% certain that Mitchell is a better passer and better qb based on two possessions and three passes. For all we know, Mitchell could come out against FSU and look like total shit and throw three interceptions and fumble twice and Pete will be starting against UNC. Not likely, but it's possible. To confidently state otherwise is talking out of your butt

But I'm glad Mitchell is back and hope he is as good as a lot of fans seem to think.

You seem to be missing the point. No, I don't agree with everyone that Mitchell is a better quarterback because I don't know if he is and haven't seen enough of him to form an opinion.
