^ Ha. Who's to say we will become mediocre? Pool's decline also coincided with the cash influx in the premier league. United has already cashed in. Will we be as dominant? Of course not, but I wouldn't expect us to decline that far.... 10/6/2013 10:28:40 PM |

wazza, sometimes I feel other teams' supporters(*cough* scousers *cough*) wish United lose and decline rather than their team get back in the title hunt. We have a term for that back in Manchester. ABU!

^ Lol.
What an incredible title race this is shaping up to be. Arsenal out the gates early but they still have some tough fixtures left. Out of the traditional top 6 United have had the toughest start and would have been pretty well placed had Moyes and the team not dropped points against West Brom. Pool is actually looking better than I expected. It will be interesting to see how they can handle the december/january fixture list though. Still think the squad is pretty thin but they have shown enough to make a legitimate push for top 4. Besides Arsenal; Chelsea, City, Tottenham, and United just aren't consistent. 79-82 points might just do it this year for the title. 10/7/2013 9:21:54 AM |

Wazza, you are a gentleman and a scholar. Keep teaching us about your team and this game that we know nothing about.

As a United supporter, I have mad respect for Everton and how they run the club. Classy fans too. They've never been relegated in their history I believe, and I've always loved their swashbuckling style of play and emphasis on youth right from their Walter Smith days.

Jack is quite clearly not the smartest guy. But hardly the first to say and do dumb things on the national team.
So where are we on Januzaj? He eclipsed Ozil as second best midfielder in EPL? (Eriksen clearly #1) 10/9/2013 11:22:05 AM |

To the outsiders looking in, it really isn't that surprising to United fans that he has had a good start. Especially after Sir Alex had put him on the bench in his last match. We were excited when we signed him and he looked bloody good in pre-season. Obviously potential and ability are two different things (ask Wilshere). Will Adnan come good? He has every chance to, depends on how he works. I think the kid has the right attitude and work ethic to become a great player. The 18 year old scored on debut and didn't celebrate after his first goal. He wanted to win, and he knew 1 goal wasn't enough. The mentality is good and from what I have read his father is ambitious and will keep him in line. I would certainly not sleep on him, long way to go but the ceiling is very high for him.

Jack is 21. I have been hard on him at times but he isn't someone you can label as failed potential yet. Especially considering he still isn't 100% fit and won't be as long as he's first choice every week for club and country.
You'd think people might learn that after missing 1.5 seasons it takes time to get back to your normal self after seeing Aaron Ramsey since last January.

Not saying he's a stud but his finishing last year was far better. Without his pace he would be shit but you could say the same about a few England regulars (most notably Kyle Walker).
He did have 21 goals and 14 assists in all comps last year. 10/10/2013 8:55:15 AM |

Got misinterpreted a bit, the way I worded it didn't help. I am not labeling Jack as a failed talent yet, he just hasn't panned out the way he should have and there are also concerns regarding his work ethic. Wilshere still has time going for him and he clearly still has the talent but he will need to put his head down and start working to achieve it. 10/10/2013 9:20:42 AM |

Rooney and Nani speaking out in supporting Moyes and saying they can turn it around. I am glad Moyes hasn't lost the players yet. That would have killed it entirely. Good to see Rooney is settled (especially since this is the fittest he has looked coming into a season). Its unfortunate his form coincides with some absolutely horrific performances by his teammates. 10/10/2013 9:34:16 AM |

wazza31 All American 2433 Posts user info edit post |
To be fair what Barton said isn't too far off but it is extremely stupid. Of Course Sir Alex is a manager and not a coach. There is a reason why Managers have a coaching staff. Joey Barton is a shit footballer with an even worse attitude. I am actually surprised he still gets interviewed, actually with sensationalist headlines like these its not very surprising.

honestly I don't think Barton is shit. his attitude is, but his playing is probably a 7-7.5 consistently. he's for sure head and shoulders above any other CM in the championship, and he would start on any team in the PL outside of the top 6. 10/11/2013 7:18:09 AM |

^ yeah I was about to say. I'm following the Football League this year and I think he's doing really well at QPR, while they dominate the Championship right now. 10/11/2013 8:20:37 AM |

Barton is a good player just a shit person.
I know the media is full of shit a lot but if this is true, Moyes is a fool.
Quote : | "However, a genuine mandate signed by him was presented to the club in mid-August but United decided not to go ahead with the deal after taking 48 hours to consider the offer. It is understood that Moyes was looking for a midfield general and was not convinced that Ozil’s style fitted the type of domineering player he needed.
United were already preparing a bid for Roma’s Daniele De Rossi and also tried for Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera and Ozil’s Real Madrid teammate Sami Khedira on deadline day before signing Marouane Fellaini from Everton for £27m in the final hour." |
Also, I don't want to get into an argument about Wilshere because I don't rate him super high anyway (posted in preseason that I thought Ramsey was better) but to say he's "too stupid" to be a good midfielder is so ignorant it had to have come from a Spurs fan. I'm sure Paulinho was a Rhodes scholar like all Brazilian footballers.10/11/2013 8:31:48 AM |
Ribs All American 10713 Posts user info edit post |
I don't think he meant too stupid in a book sense.
He's too busy snorting/drinking/smoking his prime away right now to actually become an elite player. Maybe he comes out of it, maybe he doesn't, but there is still time for him to pull it together if anyone can get through to the guy. 10/11/2013 9:09:23 AM |

People do realize the coke thing was literally completely made up right? He actually was injured and it wasn't a giant FA coverup to suspend him without the nation knowing.
I mean he may be a Doc Gooden (I don't know or care) type but it had nothing to do with his time not playing.
^ why would that matter? Shit, Arsenals best defender ever was a raging alcoholic and drug addict.

I seriously hope this isn't true. I simply can't watch Sir Alex wear anything but the suit of the 'Manchester Coat of Arms'
Quote : | "Former Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich has backed Sir Alex Ferguson to come out of retirement and coach Australia after Holger Osieck was sacked on Friday.
Former Australia boss Guus Hiddink and Melbourne Victory coach Ange Postecoglou are currently favourites to take up the position, but Bosnich has urged Football Federation Australia to pursue Ferguson.
"We've been throwing around a lot of names but there's one person that I haven't heard mentioned -- even though I've got more reason than anyone not to suggest him," he told Triple M radio. "I’m just being honest and have had experience under him, so know what he’s like – it is Sir Alex Ferguson.
"That name hasn't been put about, but we need someone of that ilk. He [Ferguson] would command a top whack, but in life, and especially in sport, you get what you pay for. If you want the very best, you're going to have to pay for the best."
Meanwhile, Lucas Neill is determined to defy his critics and play on despite calls for the Socceroos captain to step down from his post.
"I am committed to being captain of this country for as long as the people in charge give me that status,'' he said. "I feel partly responsible for making sure this team goes into that tournament in the best possible shape they can, in the best frame of mind, and hopefully with a lot of confidence."
Neill also responded to comments from Bosnich following Friday's 6-0 defeat to France after the 41-year-old claimed the defender is past his prime.
"Football is a game of opinions," Neil added. "He's entitled to his, (but) I expect better from people who've played the game and certainly from people that call themselves my friend." " |
