So fucking tired of hearing the "bad fan" argument....that is really played out.
On the discussion before rally derailed the thread again, you guys argue that Lowe's recruiting is the main reason to keep him and then counter-act that with give him more time in year 5. So you can see how that is very frustrating to those on the other side. 12/31/2010 2:31:40 PM |

I think we all agree the freshman class this year has a lot of promise. Whats so frustrating about letting them play more than a dozen games before we judge the season? 12/31/2010 2:33:56 PM |

That's fine and dandy but you guys act like we're putting all the focus on just this year when it's already been 4 and a half years and we have yet to see any improvement since year one....how long can you keep waiting for something that "might" happen? 12/31/2010 2:35:35 PM |

You guys have said wait till this wait till that for the last two seasons....this is it. He wins this year or he needs to go. No ifs, ands, or buts. Tracy is gone after this year anyway. Teams lose players all the time. If we go 6-10 again, isn't that enough for you? 12/31/2010 2:47:47 PM |

IF IF IF How is this so hard for you? You are just making up hypothetical situations in your deranged little mind and then getting pissed off because everyone isn't buying into your insanity. Many of us see that we are missing keystone of our team right now so any evaluations of this teams performance are pointless. Just wait and see how the season unfolds after we have the information then it is time for evaluation. Attacking someone for a 6-10 season that hasn't happened is insane. 12/31/2010 3:02:14 PM |

This season or next season? Let's try to keep the discussion logical boozie.
we aren't good this year without our best player so that proves that next year we won't be good?

First, thats just a flat out fucking lie in bold. Sure, read the box scores and end of season records and we have shown no improvement. You can't honestly sit here and say we haven't seen great improvements in players as years/seasons have gone on. I'm watching us play right now and other than a few lapses here and there, we are in better shape right now than we have been in years.
second, we've been saying wait till this season because we have had such huge gaps at PG or in talent as a whole and now we finally HAD a complete team to start the season. We don't fucking have the complete team that we were all waiting on because of Tracy's injury. So shut the fuck up and quit pissing and moaning that some people would rather keep the pressure off the kids by not discussing their coaches job security like every fucking possession will determine it.

We have out rebounded the majority of our opponents and destroyed Syracuse on the boards so I am not that worried about that. Now that Leslie is showing a desire to rebound I think we will be a solid team on the boards. Where did you hear about Tracy redshirting?12/31/2010 4:23:52 PM |
face All American 8503 Posts user info edit post |
If Tracy redshirted I wonder how that would affect Leslies decision to return next year or go pro.
I could see it making him more likely to return because we'd be better on one hand, but on the other I could see him being worried about playing time, position, etc.
Either way I think he'll leave after this season for sure if he's guaranteed a spot in the lottery, but maybe hanging around one more year if the lockout looks certain (it does for at least a partial season loss) and he's slipping from the lottery.
Harrow will likely be better than Javi next year so if Leslie returned we'd essentially lose nothing (except a backup PG as Harrow moves to starter), gain Tracy, and all of our players would be a year older and more experienced.
That's a top 25 team.
Hell, even if Leslie left it'd be a certain tournament team. 12/31/2010 5:09:11 PM |

No offense, but bragging from a big Lowe supporter about handling a 3-10 team is about the same as a Lowe detractor talking shit about losing a close game to a top 10 team.
We definitely look good and it makes me happy...but it's not like this game proves anything.
I am, however, extremely excited to see Tracy playing so well. I think we can make it to the tourney with him playing at least 75-80% of full strength. I'm personally tired of watching the tournament without us being involved. I don't want to wait another year and I'm doubtful of us making it next year without him.

Let's put this in perspective.
#19 San Diego State beat them by 28
#15 Baylor beat them by 33
#149 Utah lost to them by 3 on a neutral court.
If we win this game by 30, it isn't meaningless. It means we're a much better team than the all the NC State haters on this board give us credit for. 1/1/2011 1:23:48 PM |

I don't see how that helps your argument at all. The other two are somewhat relevant.
Bottom line is that San Diego looks like complete garbage. I just saw them make a decent pass to a post player who was wide open beneath the basket. Instead of putting it up, he pumped fake with no one around him...made an extremely weird pivot move, then bricked a shot right underneath the basket.
Next time down the court they bricked another lay-up...then their next lay-up got blocked.
They are pretty horrible.
We look good...but I don't think you can make a judgment about our team...yet. I will say that it does get me a little excited about the rest of the season...but as a State fan, I've learned how to temper my expectations.1/1/2011 1:37:49 PM |

yeah they suck dick no one is arguing that, but we are destroying them.
Our offense looks great and we aren't even hitting our threes.

What a weird phenomenon that if you replace the bulk of Vandy and Painters minutes with Tracy Smith at 80% we become a better team.

No the Sidney detractors will be screaming about how they don't understand why Tracy wasn't playing. Must be Sidney's "terrible substitution patterns" (and before you say it is ridiculous remember they were saying the same thing last year after Howell came back from injury...) 1/1/2011 4:55:07 PM |

Impressive considering it's their only D-1 win in 10 games. They've also lost to 245, 198, 245 and 212... They aren't a good team. At all.
Neither is Wake Forest, so I'm not sure what relevance that has...

In a big money sport like NCAA Basketball, improvement IS wins and better results at the end of the season. I honestly don't care how well individual players improve if it doesn't translate in to wins.
I'd struggle to say we are in better shape now than we've been in years. Maybe the five since Sidney has been here, but remember we lose the guy who made this team look like a major conference team finally with his return.
** Also, we are getting rocked in the RPI as it becomes more connected. Barely in the Top 100 now and unfortunately, the ACC only has one Top 20 team so it's going to be tough to make that up without winning 10-11 ACC games...

NyM410 J-E-T-S 50085 Posts user info edit post |
Not all 9 wins will be the same. I mean we could make it if we beat the right teams, but you are in trouble if you start your conference schedule with a RPI of over 100 and your conference isn't the Big East. Our RPI should drop a bit more regardless of what happens with Elon since they are also in the 200s.
It's an uphill climb for sure. Hopefully, Tracy being out is accounted for but for the losses against Georgetown and Wisconsin I doubt it will be. One thing we have going for us is that Syracuse has been better than expected and so, too has Wisconsin (especially). If Wiscy was as projected, we'd be pretty much out of it at this point... 1/2/2011 12:20:47 PM |

LOL, you guys are out of control now. collegerpi.com has us at #63 right now.
If we go 9-7 in the ACC this year we are in great shape to make the tournament, don't be ridiculous.
Our RPI will be around 40th if we go 9-7.
RPI is still a joke after 10-15 games, kenpom is not because it accounts for way more factors.
Not all ACC schedules are created the same fellas. We have Duke, UNC, and FSU twice who are all good teams. We've played 4 teams that are in the top 15 in the nation already.
We look solid, we're going to probably go ~8-8 if Tracy can stay healthy and be his normal productive self. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.
We're in much better shape than we were a few years ago. We have young productive talent, a few recruits on the way, and it's fair to say we can expect Sidney's recruiting to accelerate as we start compiling wins. 1/2/2011 12:26:33 PM |
