since i'm being open b/c i'm just SICK of the secrets (what's to be ashamed of?! lots of people have skeletons, and lots of people suffer with addiction! why do we have to be quiet????)

my dad checked into rehab the day after he dropped me off for my first day at NCSU back in 2001.
after that he was 2 years sober.
2003 going in to 2004 he had his first slip with slip ups going back and forth between frequent and non-existent.
june of 2006, the day after our housewarming party, my dad drank himself into a 2 day coma.
it's been a downward spiral since then with the past few months being the worst that they have ever been.

i do nothing but support him, and try to encourage him to get better...he tells me "i'm the only one that understands." lord knows what that means.
he goes to meetings, but always come up with an excuse to not go anymore.

now, he has cancer...again. he first had cancer 10 years ago. then he had Esophageal, now he has Prostate. his doctor tells him that drinking it not good for him esp now, but he still does. he prescribed him meds that would make him yack if he drank a single drop, he switched them with acetominophen. he's very crafty with his drinking...and very dangerous.

and i posted a thread a few months back about parents divorcing once their kids are older. it hasn't happened yet, and i don't know if it will happen. but needless to say my parents marriage is the worst that it's ever been.

it's just a shitty time...and all my brother and i can do is be supportive without getting dragged into the middle of it.

i just wish he was happy. all my friends on here that have met him will probably all have the same thing to say about him, "dude you're dad is awesome! he's so funny! i love your dad!!"
