It's been a while since someone called an all in with ace high post flop and threw a bitchfest about how he had me beat preflop....good times.

Haha. Which one? I caught a few sets vs overpairs later on in the night but all early to late afternoon was horrible.

All in bad beat busts for tournaments with
QQ vs AJ who reraised me
AA vs 67 suited
KK vs JJ
JJ vs 99 who in fairness hit his set on the flop, but called with horrible odds preflop

This was followed up by some non bad beat tournament busts

KK vs AA
JJ vs AA
KK vs AA vs QQ

^Were you playing on Stars tonight? I was taking bad beats like those over and over in the 3 tourneys I played in. Seemed they were happening more often than usual.

6 on Stars and 6 on FT

The amount of bad beats were fairly common for my Sundays but the KK vs AA twice stung.

I know you were saying this sarcastically but I hate when other people blame bad beats or incredible hands on the software.

If you get rivered then blame it on Bodog/Stars/FT etc.

Yeah, especially when its an all in preflop coinflip. Some guy threw a fit when I backdoor rivered a flush with AQ vs 66 even though we were all in preflop. As if it would have been much more fair if I had just hit an over on the flop.

I wasn't blamming it on the software or anything. Just for some odd reason it seemed like I was taking more bad beats than usual last night.

I definitely returned the bad beats come night fall. Obviously 3 tournaments aren't really enough for the bad beats to even out so to speak.

Anyone else watching PAD tonight? Kinda funny, they have Gus vs 5 women.

And for some off reason, I want to fuck Beth Shak in the ass. Seems like the king of woman who can hang with ya on a good night of drinking.

So I play in my first limit razz tournament last night. The first four cards I was dealt were AAAA. Maybe thats a sign. Razz is an interesting game because no one ever folds.

Had probably the shittiest SNG ever yesterday morning. There was another wolfpacker in it but we couldnt chat due to table restrictions. I was chip leader most of the tourney (18 people, top 5 get a 76$ token, 6th gets cash), we get down to 8 people and suddenly any time a small stack goes all in they win.

The reason I bring it up is because of this - do you find it advantageous to play small raised pots (Min raise when you are BB) with 3+ people with marginal hands late in a tourney? There were two hands particularly where I was the BB and there was a min raise called by several people that I got burned on. One I had 87h on an 844 flop (1 heart), I pot bet and got called by one guy, turn was a 6h and I put him all in for just a small amount more. Of course he has 66 and takes it. The other one I had A5 and similar betting occurred on an a57 flop (except he pushed all in on the flop). He turns over AQ and hits a 7 on the turn.

I probably should never have put myself in those situations and just let the tournament run its course while I sat on my stack but it was going SOOO slow and there was almost no action post flop or large raises. The two hands resulted in me catching AJ on the button and getting called by AK big blind. So should I not have put myself in those situations in the first place and just coasted?

In these type of tournaments especially with a big stack, I like to be the one applying the pressure and not responding to a raise. Use your fold equity to your advantage. Things may be different in a regular tournament, but all you're looking to do is place and capitalize on someone elses mistake. Most other players are thinking along the same lines and will fold to a raise from a big stack late in the game unless they have a power hand. I fold pretty good hands to big raises that I would otherwise call or go over the top in normal tournaments. With a big stack, be patient and wait...if your stack dwindles, make a move.

How long does PokerStars take to send out a check? I forgot I created a new account and started playing on my old one without realizing it. I worked 9 bucks to 80 somehow and I wanted to pull 50 back to my epassporte.

I thought about player to player transfer to myself, but will that trip some collusion detector? Somehow the two accounts have the same address.

you'd be a prick too.

realizing i was becomming one of them was the main reason i've basically quit playing poker.

went from going to ac friday afternoons -> sunday nights every weekend, to twice in the last 8 months, both times only b/c friends were in town from NC.

I'm a much happier person now.

Well my post that I won a MTT got deleted.

Hey TWW, I won a MTT. Go me.

But Jesus Christ, there is nothing like getting rivered twice when you have a big chip stack to lose out of a tournament. I am pissed.

Ahhhh the funny conversations I have online.

I push under the gun with AK late in a MTT.

I get called by QJ.

The flop is AQJ.

Turn is... I think a 4.

And the river is an A. So I win.

He goes crazy saying he always gets rivered... blah blah blah. So the whole table begins to have a philosophical conversation about what it means to "get rivered". I argues that this was not getting rivered at all because we were all-in preflop, so the order of the cards was irrelevant. To be rivered one must first engage in a pot that at least goes to the flop. Nobody agreed at the table and all said the dude had taken a bad beat by my AK.

BoDog. My S/N is jimb1979. I dislike the tournaments available... I may switch soon but I doubt it.

I don't want to glorify things. I won a 97 person $4 MTT and a 37 person $2 + Rebuy MTT. I think the first paid like $120 and the second $75.

I guess more than anything I am happy to get the monkey off my back. But of course at that buy-in and number of people it is a very small monkey. However my ROI for April is like 860%. I must be the awesomest....

ah i've been trying out a couple 3-5 dollar rebuys and usually only the ones that are guaranteed, but I've only ever finished in the money once with MTTs My strategy (or lack thereof) seems to need serious adjustment.

I've seen similar shit. Think I already posted it actually, but the other day I had AK vs 5-5 all in preflop. I end up rivering a back door flush. He gets all pissy that I got a runner runner flush but that doesn't change the fact we were 50/50 preflop when we got all in. What's even worse is when they bitch when I have pot odds to call and then I catch. If I raise 3 bbs with 67 suited and you go all in for 6 bbs I'm sure as hell not laying that down.

I agree David.

I will generally call just about any all-in if i either have raised or am in the blinds if I have less than 50% of what I have already committed to call.

On the same token, I routinely fold "big" hands to all-ins just because I don't like putting my money on a coinflip if I can help it.

Honestly beats like that are what kept me from placing in other MTT's I've played in. Last month I was pretty far into one and I had AA. Blinds were 300/600ish and some guy pushed under the gun with like 8k and he got a caller. I went all-in over top of him for like 35k. The whole table folded and I told the guy "Fold, I have AA." (That was probably unethical.... but it was heads-up basically between the two of us and I didn't want to take a stupid beat.) Well of course he calls with QQ, and of course he spikes a queen. He said he believed that I had AA, but he was already pot committed. That was stupid too, because he had 40k in chips, and 8k of that is hardly pot committed (especially if you think you're drawing to 2 outs). God I hate stupid people.

A good way to build up your bankroll on PokerStars is to play in the $2.2 MTT satellite to the Sunday Hundred Grand. It pays out $11 to all that make it. Usually they are around 150-250 players with around 25-50 spots paying the $11 depending on how many people play. They are pretty easy to cash in. They only pay you in T$ but those can be reinvested into more tourneys, or traded for cash. I have almost doubled my bankroll playing these in a week.
