FP has fab sales for real. also, i <3 revolver...but haven't been able to find anything there recently i have several pairs of jeans from there though
but even the FP website (and the nice belk where they have the FP section) has some incredible sales and you can get some great pieces if you hunt, hunt, hunt and hit it up at the right time (season changes...i know it isn't as satisfying because you sometimes can't always wear your purchases right away, but when you FINALLY get the chance to wear like a $200 sweater you got for $30 you feel pretty damn awesome! lol) 3/24/2011 10:54:29 PM |

Ladies, I bought this dress at TJ Max yesterday for $40. It's on sale at Nordstroms for 118. They have some really good deals on Calvin Klein dresses.
It says it's dry clean only, but it's mostly cotton. Do you think I can hand wash it on cold and line dry it instead? The fabric feels like a thick, substantial cotton. 3/26/2011 11:02:08 AM |

i'd go for the handwash cycle and line dry. I got a nice CK dress at ross last summer for 6 bucks and it's kinda the same material. unfortunately it's the 3rd white dress i have now, but that has worked without shrinking for me. 3/26/2011 3:38:50 PM |

Question, with the weather we are expecting to have tonight, should I bother trying to do my hair? I can wear it straight like I do everyday, or I can use my triple barrel curling iron to make it cute and wavy. Is it worth the trouble? I have an umbrella!
side note* I have naturally wavy hair, so it tends to frizz out with moisture in the air. 3/26/2011 5:43:11 PM |

I learned recently that oftentimes when something like that says "dry clean only" that doesn't really mean it's dry clean only but really that the manufacturer didn't want to spend the money to do washing testing and just slapped a dry clean only tag on it. As long as it's washed in the gentle cycle and line dried I think you'll be fine.

I knooooooooooooooow! I was so pissed when they closed the Crate and Barrel in Crabtree and moved it to Southpoint. Crabtree is close to me and Southpoint is a trek. I hate having to go to Southpoint for stores like Anthropologie. I guess at least it keeps me from spending money
^ My hair is like that too. Personally I wouldn't bother with today's weather. I know my hair would poof out in 10 seconds flat if I did anything with it today

I wish I saw this before I saw you last night. Try the Treseme products for climate control. They work really well in humid/rainy conditions. I have hair that straightens easily but if there is any humidity or moisture in the air, forget it. 3/27/2011 11:00:08 AM |

Sam, your coloring is similar to mine. I recently went strawberry blonde (isla fisher style) and love love love it!
You get freckles, right? If so, it will look VERY natural and cute. 3/27/2011 12:43:37 PM |

When is your wedding? I can't remember if it's this spring or next spring!
I think it would look fantastic. However, going lighter is more permanent than going a darker shade. And if *you* end up not liking it, it may take more upkeep to get it to the color you do like consistently in time for your wedding. Now, if wedding is next year, absolutely. I love the shade, and think it would work really well for you!
I went more strawberry blonde for a year, and really did like it. But when it came time to go back to the darker shade it took more consistent coloring until it grew back out to the natural color.

thanks guys i<3k - I don't have a ton of freckles on my face, but I definitely do on my shoulders, chest and arms
^ yeah it's May 2012.... and I don't have to take any form of wedding picture anytime soon so I figured if I hate it, I have enough time to fix it.
I think I was starting to second guess myself because last night one of my friends in Bama basically told me she didn't think it would look go, and that I should go darker instead. Her main reasoning was I have dark eyebrows (even though I don't really think they're that dark....) and that I would have to dye it back to brown for my wedding.
Which brings me to a little rant. So please just hear me out.
That isn't the first time I've heard that phrase - "You'll have to dye it back for your wedding."
W. T. F.
Why does my hair have to be my natural color for the wedding??? If I like it strawberry blonde, and Eric likes it, why the F does it have to be brown?! This whole wedding planning thing is making me realize how much I can't stand most "traditional" wedding values. WHY DOES IT MATTER WHAT COLOR MY HAIR IS If my hair was bright pink and I loved it, that's all that should matter /rant
PS - she also said I should only dye my hair if I dye my eyebrows. I'm really not sure what to think about this. I never really found darker eyebrows than your hair color to be unsightly or ugly, even if you could tell it was not that person's natural color. Case in point:
or even
Emma Stone technically has darker eyebrows for that blonde, and it looks amazing! 3/27/2011 1:12:10 PM |
piddlebug ow 2293 Posts user info edit post |
I agree with everything stated above. Dye your hair. And ifyou like it,keep it. Something I am constantly having to remind myself through our wedding planning: It's OUR wedding. What he and I want/like is the most important, not what everyone else wants. 3/27/2011 1:23:20 PM |
elkaybie All American 39626 Posts user info edit post |
Emma Stone is actually a natural blonde. She said it in an interview when asked how she felt about dyeing her hair blonde for that role.
Anywho...I like the color and think you would look fabulous. 3/27/2011 1:31:37 PM |
Samwise16 All American 12710 Posts user info edit post |
^ Yeah I saw that.. I guess that backs up my point even further - my friend said to dye my eyebrows to match the hair color to look "more natural." But I don't see how Emma Stone looks completely artificial in that pic with "darker" eyebrows than what's on her scalp
And thanks ps - you should write a book. You have a way with words (in response to how you write on your blog) 3/27/2011 1:35:30 PM |
Gzusfrk All American 2988 Posts user info edit post |
Agree 100%. Your hair only has to be what you want it to be at your wedding! No reason to dye it back if you like the color!! 3/27/2011 1:36:55 PM |

samwise, your friend has no idea what she's talking about
you don't have to dye your eyebrows. actually when people do that it ends up looking really weird imo
i had red hair for years and left my eyebrows alone. and it looked fine
i think strawberry blonde would be really cute. and if you're on the fence ab the eyebrows dont make a decision until you see how it turns out. i think you'll be surprised how natural it ends up looking 3/27/2011 3:05:46 PM |

Don't dye your eyebrows. My hair is naturally red and my eyebrows are very dark. Even when I went blonde I didn't dye my eyebrows. And it looked fine. I think the strawberry blonde color would look fab. Did you have lighter hair as a child? Sometimes it's helpful for the stylist to see a picture so they know exactly which shades to be mixing so the color comes out perfect with your complexion.3/27/2011 3:26:11 PM |

I think it only looks tacky if its an extreme with blond hair and dark eyebrows. But your eyebrows don't seem that dark or thick so it should be fine.

^, ^^ thanks! and yea, i'm way too scared to do it myself. i tried in college when i was like 18 and it came out red red...not brown red haha. it was fine after it faded a bunch but at first it was like WHOA!!!! plus they can get the color exactly right and all the highlights and stuff.
it is going to suck to pay for it but i need a haircut anyway and i'm ready for a change
how much is this going to set me back haha. any thoughts on where to go? i really don't want to pay like $300 for it :/

^ If you're still considering do it yourself, take some advice from a longtime red dye addict. After frying my hair over and over with stinking formulas from the drug store, I finally discovered Surya Henna and it looked FABULOUS!!! (found it at the health food store) it is a very gentle formula that doesn't burn your hair like most dyes. it also washes out in a month or 2 so it's no commitment if you hate it. IIRC, I mixed the Red and Mahogany shades. Looks like you're going for straight Mahogany.
