Any thoughts about the Galaxy S6? Probably not worth me turning in a Note 4, but it sure is purdy.
3/6/2015 2:10:38 PM
All metal and glass? Toned-down TouchWiz? Yes plz.
3/6/2015 2:28:30 PM
One thing that has kept me away from Apple is the whole battery thing though. And I realize that software updates to the OS are probably going to render my phone unusable before the battery will need to be replaced, but it is still a thing with me.
3/6/2015 2:37:27 PM
S6 no longer has a removable battery right?
3/6/2015 2:52:09 PM
no more removable battery, no more sd card slot
3/6/2015 2:52:52 PM
And based on the battery output, people are speculating that it is going to be underpowered. The variable though is the chip, which is actually made by Samsung (they ditched Snapdragon). So maybe this is some revolutionary power sipping chip that doesn't need a huge battery.
3/6/2015 2:56:25 PM
Could possibly get away with no removable battery but I need an sd slot unless they offer a 64-128GB version for a reasonable price. I'm not paying an extra $300 for something I can get with $50 with an sd card.
3/6/2015 3:10:00 PM
They are guessing that the 128 GB version will be upwards of $1000. Of course I don't know how that would translate with carrier subsidies.

Swiftkey added some basketball themed keyboard layouts ($0.99 each) for March Madness, but their collection of teams available doesn't make a lot of sense to me:- Notre Dame- Florida- Michigan- Iowa- Texas A&M- Wisconsin- Ohio State- Kentucky- Virginia

3000 mAh, same as the G3the G3 has a higher resolution, though, so the zenfone 2 should get a fair better battery life for the same screen size and battery capacity[Edited on March 11, 2015 at 8:44 AM. Reason : .]

3/20/2015 3:33:55 PM
from what i've read, we're in the second round of releases, which is sometime in april...asus has confirmed they'll be selling the unlocked versions in canada early in the month, so we shouldn't be too far behind

Anyone use the OnePlus One? I am waiting for the v2 of the OnePlus to launch which is sometime in April. That should effectively lower the price on the existing OnePlus One.Also is just me or does the Zenfone 2 look fat?[Edited on March 25, 2015 at 10:03 AM. Reason : .]

I am at my wits end with this piece of shit S5. AT&T's most recent update has totally fucked this phone. I can't use the god damn home button without it bringing up Google Now EVERY FUCKING TIME. Something got screwed up with the phone's ability to distinguish a long press. I had to download "Swipeup Utility" in order to disable the damn feature. I want the OnePlus One so bad but I really don't want a phone that big. I hate this new obsession with giant phones. The Zenfone 2 looks to be a phablet as well.

I don't really give a shot about Lollipop. After a certain point, the OS updates are more bells and whistles than new, highly useful additions. I can't really think of anything negative in Kitkat that is improved in Lollipop.

So as of about a day ago, my phone no longer automatically opens Google Voice messages in the stock sound player. Previously if I'd have a GV message that I opened in GMail and clicked on the 'Play Message' link, it would switch to Chrome and download the message and it would start playing. Now I get this:As if I don't have the sound app anymore. But if I go to my Downloads and tap on an older voicemail, it plays just fine using the proper app.Any ideas?

is there a way to make a shortcut to connect/disconnect to a specific bluetooth device?
4/14/2015 7:04:53 PM
Not sure, but you should be able to make that pairing automatically connect, then just turn on Bluetooth for your one-touch solution.
4/14/2015 10:48:21 PM
bluetooth is already on for my watch and earphones, but for some reason the shitty Ford entertainment system doesn't register for media playback sometimes (it's almost like the phone pairs before it's finished starting up, so it pairs as phone only and not media). I want a shortcut so i can wait for the car to startup then pair the device without having to swipe down, click the 3 dots bluetooth, then select the car system to pair.

4/23/2015 3:15:39 PM
^^ That's pretty interesting, but outside of getting $ back for data you don't use, it doesn't look that compelling, especially when you can get AT&T service (instead of Sprint/T-Mobile) for the same price through Straighttalk.[Edited on April 23, 2015 at 4:26 PM. giving money back for unused data is the first step to tricking everyone into paying by the byte, it's not something you should be excited about.

I am not able to find a straight answer for this:My Nexus 5 has been filling up slowly even though I haven't downloaded any apps for months. i take a lot of pics but I regularly go to the Photos app and delete the "On Device" pics. I just did that and I just have 1 GB left on my phone, but it was about 2.5 GB a couple of months ago. And yes, I just deleted the cached files as well.Went to Settings -> Storage -> Apps and discovered that Google+ is taking up 7 GB (next highest is 3xx MB). So the only thing that could be is the pics in my Google account. If I click on it (within Settings -> Storage -> Apps) and click on "Clear Data", will that delete my pics from my global Google account, or will it just delete them from the phone's instance of Google+ but leave them in my Google account?I would appreciate an answer soon as my phone is starting to get slow now because of the low space. Plus, if that would delete them from my Google account, the only solution I can think of is to go on my laptop and download some of the pics and then delete them from Google+. I should actually do that anyway because I have used up 13 GB of my 15 GB Google/Gmail account. Any other solutions for making space on the phone in that case? And yes, I am the biggest idiot in the world for not wanting to spend an extra $50 on top of $350 to get double the space. Have regretted that decision ever since I got the phone.
5/23/2015 7:26:10 PM
If you clear the data from an app, it will just clear it from your phone. For example, I had all of my Dropbox files synced to my phone and they were taking up a few gigs, so I Cleared App Data and it removed them from the phone, freeing up space, but didn't remove them from my Dropbox account.Seems odd Google+ would take up that much space though, almost as odd that someone uses Google+ ----Also, are all the pics in your G+ account also stored locally on your phone? i.e., same photos are being stored on your phone twice? Might want to go into G+ app on phone into the settings and see about a local storage limit or cache size[Edited on May 23, 2015 at 8:00 PM. Reason : .]
5/23/2015 7:56:36 PM
I have Dropbox on my phone and I can access all 100 GB of my files, but they take up no space on my phone. That tells me I need to hear from someone who has the same phone as they would know all the technicalities. Thanks for your response, though.LOL I don't use Google+, that's just where Google stores pics I take with my Nexus 5. If I want to access them from my phone or my laptop, I can either go to Google+ through a browser, or use the Google+ app. But yeah, Google has given me 15 GB free, and once I got the phone last July and started taking pics, it started filling up (it was already like 45% full with email). Now it is at 13+ GB. Actually, I have already downloaded all the pics from July till December and deleted them from my Google account (via Google+ website), so it would have filled up a couple of months ago had I not downloaded them. I need to download and delete more, but that still doesn't answer my question from my previous post.As for your question, when I take a pic, it is stored on the phone (local copy) and uploaded to my Google+ account. I already deleted the "On Device" pics, so they are not on my phone anymore. But here is the caveat: since they are uploaded to my Google+ account, and that account is synced with my phone, they still take up space on my phone even though I deleted them. In other words, the local phone copy of a given picture has been deleted, but the Google+ copy syncs with my phone and that takes up space. That's just an educated guess, btw, because I can't think of what else takes up 7 GB on Google+, when I don't even use Google+ like some people do (like FB). It must be the pics which are stored on Google+.So my question is still: If I click on Google+ (within Settings -> Storage -> Apps) and click on "Clear Data", will that delete my pics from my global Google account, or will it just delete them from the phone's instance of Google+ but leave them in my Google account?
